Achievement 3: Content Etiquette by @samuelowusu1

Greetings to everybody. I hope that everyone is doing well. My third Achievement assignment is this one. And I'm delighted to share it with you all. I'll talk about plagiarism.

Plagiarism is the act of representing another person's words or ideas as your own, with or without that person's permission, by integrating them into your work without giving them due credit. This definition encompasses any written content, whether it is previously published or unpublished, printed or digital. Plagiarism can be irresponsible, careless, or purposeful. Plagiarism that is done purposefully or carelessly is against the rules for exams and is punishable by discipline.

Types Of Plagiarism

1. SELF PLAGIARISM
This type of plagiarism occurs when someone copies their own work and submits it more than once.
Because the owner will not suit themselves, this type of plagiarism has a less punishment.

2. DIRECT PLAGIARISM
Direct plagiarism occurs when someone duplicates someone else's work word for word, frequently without the original author's knowledge or permission. This is the most obvious violation of plagiarism, in my opinion.

3. MOSAIC PLAGIARISM
When a student uses terms from a source without putting them in quotes or finds alternatives for the author's words while adhering to the basic format and content of the original, this is known as mosaic plagiarism.

4. ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
When someone uses someone else's ideas without properly citing the author, it is known as accidental plagiarism.

Reasons why people plagiarize
1. Lack of Confidence
A writer is frequently tempted to copy when they feel unprepared for the assignment they are assigned. Usually, people copy those they look up to or consider to be more brilliant.

2. Lack of Time
In a classroom setting where a student can be collaborating with a half-dozen other teachers, this might be challenging.

3. Laziness
Students will be inclined to cheat as long as some of them don't take assignments seriously or don't care enough to put in the required effort.

Plagiarism should be avoided.

  1. In order to produce ideas, a student must be creative and imaginative.
This eliminates the possibility of plagiarism.

  2. Proper referencing and citation of sources of content gained from someone else's work is necessary to avoid plagiarism.

CITATION

Citations are references that inform the reader about the additional sources used by the author to research the topic at hand. Citations support academic viewpoints by providing proof, justification, and structure. As a result, readers are aware that you consulted a number of sources when writing your article.

Citation is the process of referencing a source in your writing. Readers are therefore aware that you drew inspiration for your post from a variety of sources.
