Common types of plagiarism

There many common types of plagiarism, in this task, I will be taking into consideration the following types of plaigarism.

  1. Direct Plagiarism
  2. Self- Plagiarism
  3. Mosaic Plagiarism
  4. Accidental Plagiarism
Having listed few common types of plaigarism, I want to go into detail and explain each one of them one after the other. Now let's get started so that we can be able to spot the difference between this types of plaigarism.

Direct Plagiarism:- When a person copies someone work word-to-word without using either quotation mark or a proper citation we say that that person has performed what we call direct plaigarism. Now it is important to state here that in academics, such practice is consider as unethical.

Self-Plagiarism:- Self-Plagiarism is simply a process where someone submits his or her work in more than one place. Take for instance a contest was given in @steemalive community and the title is "My Best Holidays". And you have written and submitted the contest.

After a period of time another community decided to unveil their own contest with the same title and then since you know that you have written soothing of that nature before you just go back to your post and copy the same thing and post again in the community. That process is know as self-plaigarism.

Patch Writing or Mosaic Plagiarism:- This type of plaigarism occurs when the person involved borrows a phrase from some other person without using any form of quotation mark to indicate that the phrase use is not originally his. In other words it is a process where the person uses synonyms to the authors language and he or she still maintain same idea or structure of the main person without given credit to the original owner by means of citing him or her.

Accidental Plagiarism:- This type of plagiarism occurs when the victim involve fails to vite the sources or alternatively he decided to misquote the original work. In the case of accidental plagiarism, unintentional paraphrasing is also part of it. So when you group words and it matches some sources we say that you are a victim of accidental plaigarism.

"Most cases of plagiarism can actually be avoided, however, by citing sources. Simply acknowledging that certain material has been borrowed and providing your audience with the information necessary to find that source is usually enough to prevent plagiarism"

What is the easiest way to avoid plagiarism

Based on my little understanding and the few research I have made, I believe the easiest way to avoid plaigarism is by giving credit to the original owner of the work. More also all sources for the work you have used should be properly cited. In this way we can completely avoid any form of plaigarism.
