Meaning of plagiarism

Plagiarism can be defined or said to be the act of copying one’s work or idea and passing or sharing them out to people through writing, telling, and posting it on the net. In a simple word we can say or define plagiarism as the act of coping, reprinting, stealing, and infringement of coping right, piracy, cribbing and so on of other people’s work or ideas they created from their memory. Without their consent or permission. Plagiarism can be seen as an academic dishonesty or wrong act which is not good. Plagiarism can also be associated with academics, especially on exams or school assignments. Plagiarism can implicate conflict or trouble for instance when you copy other people's work or ideas without the person's agreement, permission and consent with you and the person later finds out what you have done with his work or copyright, this will kill you or send you to jail.

Types of Plagiarism

· Patchwork or mosaic plagiarism: patchwork or mosaic plagiarism is one type of plagiarism which means getting other people's work or ideas from different sources of document, and then adding it to your own new text or work.

· Self-plagiarism: Self plagiarism is also one of the types of plagiarism which means to recycle or rewrite your own previous work that you have submitted, published and registered.

· Increment Plagiarism: Increment Plagiarism means inserting or writing down a copied or plagiarism work or idea and putting it together with the original idea or work.

· Global Plagiarism: Global Plagiarism simply means copying or plagiarizing a whole document, idea and work of someone without removing or adding a little of your idea or work inside the document that you need to have copied.

How to prevent Plagiarism

There are some of the tips you need to do to stop plagiarism in academic session they are:

· Define Plagiarism for them: In academic session when you find out that some of your student are prating plagiarism the first thing you need to do is to give or tell them a clear definition of plagiarism help them to know and understand the meaning normally and help them to master it and let it be in their memory.

· The consequences and disadvantages: this is another thing you need to discuss with them and tell them the advantages and disadvantages of plagiarism and make sure that they are getting all these right and they are also paying attention to what you are discussing with their question on that.

· Advise them: After when you have defined and help them know about plagiarism and the outcome of it that is advantage and disadvantage of it, then the next thing you will do is to advise them to stay away from plagiarism, which they should try at least to get an idea of their own and write it down. By doing this I think that they will understand and realize that what they have been doing is not good and they will turn away from it.

  • Citing of work: we should try and give details about work that is not our own authorship. This means that in a block chain we should cite work that is not of our own originality. It will make people reading your post to acknowledge the right of respecting other peoples post.
