Definition
Plagiarism mean copying someone content without giving credit to him/her.
It is a practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and showing it as if it is your own. plagiarism is a crime and one can take legal action against you if you plagiarized his/her content with his/her permission.
Explanation
Plagiarism refers to the act of using someone else's work, ideas or content and presenting them as one's own. It is a kind of intellectual dishonesty which is widely considered as unethical in academic, professional, and creative circles.
In most cases you can minimize the entensity of plagiarism by giving credit to the owner, but most oftenely plagiarism involves copying and pasting information from a source without giving proper credit to the legal and original author. plagiarism can include text, images, videos, graphics designs and any other form of creative work that is protected by copyright law. However, plagiarism can also occur in various ways, such as paraphrasing someone else's work in your own words but without giving proper credit, or using someone else's ideas without acknowledging the source. This act is still a part of plagiarism.
Plagiarism may have serious consequences if one is found guilty for it, particularly it is strictly prohibited in academic and professional settings. In academic settings, students who are found guilty of plagiarism, they may receive failing grades or be expelled from their program or if they are doing their research work it might be rejected by the examiner. In professional settings, an individuals who are caught plagiarizing may face disciplinary action or even lose their jobs.
There are many reasons reasons why people do plagiarism. Some people may be motivated by a desire to save their time and effort, while others may be looking to improve their own work by using ideas from other intellectuals, are of more capability then them. They want to standarized their work using others great work. In Some case people want to give credit to the real and legal owner but they don't understand how to give a proper credit to the original author.
Some steps how we can avoid plagiarism.
To avoid plagiarism, it is important to always give credit to the legal owner where credit is due. This means a proper citing of all sources used in a project, including direct quotes, paraphrases, and summaries. In academic settings, students are often required to follow a specific citation style, such as APA or MLA, these two are used to ensure that all sources are properly cited. for professional APA and MLA doesn't work , so in professional settings, individuals may need to follow company-specific guidelines for citing sources.
Example
Let's suppose I am doing my BS research. I select the topic "Feminism". I have to apply the theory of feminism on any literary work ( novel, drama, poetry, Short story etc). But instead of creating my own angle of research I copy someone else work and I include his/her work in my own research. If I claim that it's my own pure work without giving credit to the owner it's mean I am doing plagiarism. I will be guilty for doing plagiarism.
