Good day my highly esteemed steemians, trust you all are doing great. This is a post on achievement 3, thanks for your time, really appreciate you all.

The word Etiquette in it's simplest form means behaving in a socially responsible way, that is the ability to behave/comport in a modest and acceptable way. Content Etiquette in this parlance now tends to be, ensuring that whatsoever one writes, or posts is done in a right, responsible, modest and accepted way, this thus leads us into understanding our word for this post, Plagiarism

What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is an act of imitation, copying another's work or ideas, and posing it as one's own, without the prior knowledge and permission of the real owner. Plagiarism is therefore not a good conduct to act upon, as it is a criminal offence, and often times once realised is punishable in whatever form meted. No matter how hard, the new writer may try in composing his/her contents, once there's found any form of plagiarism, the onwership right and originality is lost.

Types of Plagiarism
Basically, there are four types of plagiarism, of which are:

  • Direct Plagiarism
  • Mosaic Plagiarism
  • Self-Plagiarism
  • Accidental Plagiarism

Direct Plagiarism:
This is type of plagiarism whereby, the content of another's work is been used by the defaulter (plagiarist), without citing it to the real owner. In this context, disciplinary measures can be meted on the plagiarist.

Self-Plagiarism:
This type of plagiarism is one in which, a person owns a piece of work, and uses same content for another, example say a project, without prior permission of let's say supervisors.
Let's use our reputable Steemit Platform for an example, a writer writes a post in a community, and uses same contents in other communities, which is totally wrong.

Mosaic Plagiarism:
This type of Plagiarism often occurs when a plagiarist uses part of another's piece, and forgets to cite it. This type is occurs not with the intention to plagiarise but forgets to source where the information actually emanated from. Often times in this type of plagiarism, the plagiarist uses the original context of the main owner without permission even though cited, it's still very wrong, and punishable.

Accidental Plagiarism:
This form of plagiarism occurs when a plagiarist may cite a wrong source from he got his information. Here, the author is cited, but could be that the specific paragraphs or lines are mis-cited, i.e. citing a source for say A, but what the content carries is say B.

Now, let's take an example of sourcing/citing

How to Avoid Plagiarism?

source
For one to avoid plagiarism, he/she must understand key concepts as explained above, he/she must understand the relevance of originality, and side effects attached to plagiarism.
Above is an example on image sourcing, in order to avoid Plagiarism; and below is a text source, and link as well to get full information, in order to avoid Plagiarism.

" Winter, the coldest season of the year, comes between autumn and spring. It is associated with plunging temperatures and icy weather, but its impact and timing change according to location. The farther an area lies from the equator, the colder temperatures it experiences ." Source

Very big thanks to everyone of you, that takes time out of your busy schedule in going through this context, blessings on you.

"I would love to state that having read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community, I will do my best in embracing them, and abide by it's rules regulations".
