Greetings great steemians, it's another wonderful opportunity here as today am upholding the task of writing achievement 3, which is a write up on CONTENT ETIQUETTE.

Every laborer deserves a reward, a writer is a laborer. It takes energy and time to scribble letters, construct proper sentences and compile an appealing and interesting write up.
Imagine doing all this energy consuming work, then someone in his/her comfort copies all the write up word for word without due attribution to the writer. The ill feeling is better imagined than experienced. With this mental note, consider how a write feels when PLAGIARISM as an offense is dished out to him/her. Firstly let's take a look at what the big words mean.
According to Wikipedia, Plagiarism is the representation of another authors language, thoughts, ideas or expression as one's own original work without due permission from the initial author.

On the other hand, Oxford dictionary defines ETIQUETTE as the customary code of polite behavior in the society or amongst members of a group.

FOUR MAJOR TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

DIRECT PLAGIARISM.

This refers to the direct or word - word transcription of a persons work without due attribution and quotation marks. This is a deliberate and unethical action.

SELF PLAGIARISM.

This type of plagiarism occurs when a writer submits parts or whole of a previous article without permission from constituted authorities for a current writing assignment. It also implies duplicating an article for various writing entries.

MOSAIC PLAGIARISM.

This can also be called "patch work". It occurs when a writer borrows phrases from a source without due permission or indication of such borrowing.

ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM.

As the name implies, this happens when a writer neglects citing, their sources or misquote sources or even unintentionally paraphrase a source by using same words or sentences without due attributions.

CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM
° It robs one's reputation to the mud and also portrays the person as lacking integrity.

° It destroys one's professional reputation.

° Copyrighr laws are absolute and frown at this action, one would face legal repercussions if found wanting.

° It also attracts fines to the culprit.
