What is plagiarism?

This is an act where by the writer of a blog or creator of a content uses a phrase, picture, video or any other form of content not original created by the writer without giving any form of credit to the original creator of these phrases, picture, video or any other form of content. As a music artiste and songwriters, this is one very essential aspect of my craft. A lawsuit punishment will be issued to any artiste or producer guilty of copywriting another artistes beat or song without the permission of the original creator. So avoiding plagiarism is very important as it protects original content creators and also encourage other creatives as myself to create nothing but original and unique contents.

Types of plagiarism

1. Hired plagiarism
Paying for someone else's work, ideas, strategy, research, and thought is what this implies. Because you are paying someone else for a piece of writing that you will use as your own, this is also plagiarism. It includes stocking up on supplies. It might include hiring a business consultant to help you with marketing or develop a business plan.

2. Collaboration plagiarism

This is a type of plagiarism in which a group of people cooperate on a piece of work that looks to have been completed by a single person. A group of students may opt to undertake research for an assignment, after which each student writes it to the best of their abilities. Collaboration is required.

3. Paraphrasing plagiarism

Paraphrasing plagiarism is defined as plagiarism in which the copier references the original copy or changes another's work without crediting the author. Duplicating someone else's work without revealing the original source is what this implies.

4. Global plagiarism

Plagiarism, in its broadest meaning, is the act of copying and passing off someone else's work as your own. This includes using someone else's idea or expertise before it has been proven.

How to prevent plagiarism?

Firstly, On the steemit platform, we encourage creators to create original contents as we all have our uniqueness when it comes to creativity. while at this, it is possible to have added an unoriginal content unintentionally. If you want to keep everything original, it is important you these;

  1. Check through all You've created and make sure they are original contents
  2. You can ask other experts to read through just to be sure
  3. Thirdly, I'll love to emphasize that it must be original contents only.

If you have to work with contents that are not original, maybe by trying to explain your points better with an image online or quoting a mentor or making references, on the steemit platform I have learnt the power of citation. Adding the sign "" to quoted phrases I'd very very essential.

On the steemit community, we have members @endingplagiarism who are there to make sure the spam and eject any plagiarised content.
