Why You Should Never Start Your Article With a Quote
While this may seem like an harsh rule, there are good reasons for why you shouldn't start your piece with a quote:
First, it's always better to hook your audience right from the start. Craft an engaging first sentence that captures their attention and evokes their interest.
Additionally, quotes will almost never match the tone of voice of the rest of your story, and this can lead to a lack of energy in the overall piece.
Finally, using a quote at the beginning of an article rises questions about context, making it hard for your audience to fathom what's in it for them.
In short, while there may be times when starting off with a quote suits the style, it is best to stay clear of this outdated convention in general!
