Mithun Chakraborty is a renowned Indian actor, dancer, and politician. He was born on June 16, 1950, in Barisal, Bangladesh (then East Pakistan). He made his debut in the Hindi film industry with the film "Mrigayaa" in 1976, which won him the National Film Award for Best Actor.
Mithun Chakraborty is known for his versatile roles in both mainstream and art house films. He has acted in over 350 films in a career spanning four decades. Some of his notable films include "Disco Dancer," "Guru," "Agneepath," "Kaal Purush," "Pyaar Jhukta Nahin," and "Swami Vivekananda."
Apart from his acting career, Mithun Chakraborty has also been a successful entrepreneur. He owns a chain of hotels and is actively involved in social causes. He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament, from 2014 to 2020.
Mithun Chakraborty has won several awards for his contribution to Indian cinema, including three National Film Awards and a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. He was also honored with the Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian awards, in 1998.
