This is the vital part of steemit. I love the fact that this task is helping me understand steemit and how it works step by by step.
If I lose the keys, my account can't be retrieved. However, once I'm able to safeguard my keys, they are retrievable.
I can only protect my steemit account by keeping my master key safe. I must understand how to use the different keys. In order not use the wrong key when posting.
Yes, all my keys on steemit have been retrieved. They are safe.
The posting keys as the name implies, gives me access to postings, comment, edit, follow, and mute.
With the Active key, I'm able to transfer funds, update profile details, power up/ down transactions, convert steem dollars or even place a market order.
The owner key is used to change any key of an account and it is also used to recover an account that has been compromised.
The memo key is used for encrypting and decrypting memos when transferring funds and it is important we use the pound sign before it when encrypting.
As important as the master key is, which is used to generate other keys. It is recommended i save the master key offline. By using a flash drive, external storage device, or printed paper, which i have.
To transfer my steem token to another steem user account, first, I'll click wallet,
the drop down next to the steem token in my wallet. Then click transfer in the dropdown box. Then type the amount I want to transfer, the token, and memo preferably. Then click next
Here is the exercise:
To power up my steem, first, i'll click on wallet, the drop down box and click the power up. After it shows how much steem I have, I'll have to type the amount I want to power up. Then I click power up button.
