Hello steemians, good day to you all, hope you're doing great. I'm here to write my achievement3 task on content etiquette which is taking about plagiarism. We're going to see what plagiarism is about as well as types of plagiarism and how to avoid plagiarism.
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
In my own understanding, I'll say that plagiarism
is taking another person's idea as your own. When you get an idea of a piece of work from another person without a proper reference to the person, it's seen as plagiarism.
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
Complete plagiarism:
This is where where a researcher takes another person's work and submit it using his or her name without referencing the real source.
Direct plagiarism:
This is where someone copies another person's work, word to word without the use of quotation marks.
Self Plagiarism:
This is when a researcher reuses his or her previous work without some attributes.
HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
Try and use your own ideas if possible
Credit the original author of your work through the use of quotation marks or citation
what is citation?
Citation is telling or showing people or your reader that a particular piece of your work came from another source.
HOW TO CITE A WORK
- Example of citation.
When citing a work, we say the word exactly the way the original author said it.
We are all different, which is great because we are all unique. Without diversity life would be very boring.link
CONCLUSION
I have read and understand steemit content etiquette in steemit platform and I'll do my best to abide by it
