What is plagiarism

Plagiarism is derived from the Latin term plagiare, which means "to kidnap." Plagiarism is a serious crime. Plagiarism is often considered of as taking someone else's work or taking someone else's own and real ideas. However, phrases like "copying" and "borrowing" can obscure the gravity of the offence: Plagiarism is when you pass off someone else's words or ideas as your own. It's basically intellectual thievery.

To engage in downright plagiarism is disappointing. It's cynical, opportunistic and hypocritical.

Way of doing plagiarism

  • Making a mistake by submitting someone else's work as your own.
  • Using someone else's words or ideas without providing credit.
  • sometimes we may Fail to give quotation marks in quote.
  • Giving inaccurate information regarding a quotation's source.
  • Without providing acknowledgment, changing words but replicating the language pattern of a source.
  • In simple word stealing of words is always plagiarism

Types of Plagiarism

Following are the types of plagiarism

Complete Plagiarism

  • Complete plagiarism occurs when a researcher plagiarises an article or study written by someone else and publishes it under his or her own name. It's equal to stealing and intellectual theft.

Source-based Plagiarism

  • Plagiarism might occur as a result of the various types of sources. A false citation occurs, for example, when a researcher cites a source that is erroneous or does not exist. If you did not give the primary source from where you have taken the data this may also cause your data to be plagiarized. Both of these types result in an increase in the number of sources for references. As a result, the number of citations in the references increases.

Paraphrasing plagiarism

  • Plagiarism through paraphrasing is the most common sort of plagiarism. It entails repurposing someone else's writing, making slight alterations to the sentences, and passing it off as it's own. Even if the words are changed, the original concept is the same,

Mosaic Plagiarism

  • Because it interlaces someone else's phrases or material inside its own study, mosaic plagiarism may be more hard to detect. It's also known as patchwork plagiarism, because it's unethical and intentional.

How to avoid plagiarism

Cite your source

  • When referencing an idea or phrase that isn't your own, include a citation in your writing that includes the source's full name, the date it was publicised,

Quotation Mark

  • when we are writing some article essay or assignment if we are taking data from other work or the saying of others we should use quotation mark around the data that will taken from others work.

Used Software to check plagiarism

  • sometime when you are writing or making some assignment there may be accidentally some plagiarize data is present that is unable to detect so in this case you must use some software that are present online in order to check whether your data is plagiarized or not.

  • There are various plagiarism checks available online, including one from Small SEO Tools. Grammarly also has a free plagiarism checker that checks your writing for plagiarised content. These programmes will tell you whether sections of your writing are plagiarised, and some will even underline the problematic words or sentences and tell you where the text came from.
