Hello, Steemians!!
I am Ernest FRIMPONG with username @vigimahn on this platform and I am here today to enlighten you guys on the rules that govern any content to be created on this platform with the knowledge I have acquired on that.

PROOF OF BRAIN
This is a name for the distribution of author and curation rewards on Steem. Steem users (authors) publishes their content, the users of the community are given the power to determine which ever content is a good one and vote according to the value of the content. The voters are called the curators. This whole system is known as PROOF OF BRAIN.
Steem only rewards original content and does not tolerate plagiarism.

Plagiarism is the representation of another author's ideas or creative works as one's own original work. Plagiarism is a serious ethical offence in academia and industry.

Plagiarism is not the same as copyright infringement. Both terms have different concept but may apply to a particular act. Regardless of whether a work is protected by copyright, false claim of ownership is plagiarism but violating the rights of a copyright holder is copyright infringement.

IS PLAGIARISM A CRIME?
Yes it is. When you steal someone's intellectual property and present it as your own work, it becomes a crime.

Plagiarism comes in types which I have explained them below.

Direct Plagiarism
This type is when one copies and paste text from someone else's work and decide to remove quotation marks or not citing the source.

Mosaic Plagiarism
This type is when one mentions the source of the copies text but doesn't acknowledge the quoted part correctly.

Self - Plagiarism
This type is when one especially students copy and paste part of their previously submitted academic paper for two different academic projects without the concern of his/her supervisor.

Accidental Plagiarism
This type is when one misquotes the parts of the text he/she has taken from the source or cites a wrong source.

In academia, Plagiarism can damage your reputation and could result in loss of research funding. Students may face suspension or possibly dismissal by plagiarizing.
Steemit does not tolerate plagiarism because such act is a crime or are seen as an abuse which leads to downvoting by community members.
