Hello everyone! This is my first time posting in this wonderful SteemShip community, and I decided there would be no better way to start than to make myself a little bit known through this awesome contest created by @shohana1 (you can find it here). I invite to participate to @ellieth, @kellylamos, @abelacevedo y @stepsbyelven.
I hope you like my entry!
These were the sentences I wrote, using a black pen, for my contest entry. My handwriting is not the best, but I am very proud of it.
The story of my handwriting, really, is quite simple. When I was a kid, my handwriting was pretty disastrous; my grandmother, who was a primary teacher for decades, made a big effort to fix it through scolding me and penmanship. I owe most of my knowledge of calligraphy to this woman who dedicated long hours of her life to redeeming my handwriting despite looking like a hopeless case. I remember very well her scolding me for my "s's" that looked like "r's" and for sharpening my pencil too much on the page.
By the time I was in 5th grade (I must have been about 9 years old), my handwriting was completely different than it is now. Teachers would tell me that I was "very neat" when doing homework, but that my handwriting could improve, as it was very small and dark. I was always told that I would sharpen my pencil too much and damage the pages with the force I was writing; a lot of teachers fought against me to loosen my pulse and calm my wrist. In addition, because of the enormous pressure I put on it, erasing became impossible; the sheets were filled with chaotic blots and smudges. This habit of pressing the page with the pencil calmed down over the years.
Nowadays, my handwriting is very large, round and clear, since, due to various health problems in my wrist, I had to change my way of writing and adapt it to my comfort. In addition, all my life, for school, I used white sheets of paper to do my homework and assignments by hand; this exercise made my handwriting increase in size and become much neater. By inertia, I now know how to place each letter in such a way as to achieve a straight line without any guide: it is a technique that has helped me a lot to achieve greater neatness and order in my work.
I am proud of my handwriting; it is particular and recognizable; for example, if I forget to put my name on an exam, there won't be much of a problem, because the teacher will know that it is my handwriting. My classmates know very well how to understand it and have gotten used to it in order to recognize each word. Once, a very close friend told me "your handwriting is unique", which made me feel very happy.
Some common criticisms of my handwriting nowadays are: "you write too big", "you confuse the k with the f", "your r's look like n's" and "you should glue the letter to the line of the notebook". However, as much as I try to correct them, I find it a bit difficult, my handwriting is just free and I love it!
