From my very young age, it has always been very attractive for me to sit under a tree or somewhere there is a natural beauty if it comes to studying. I always wanted to be near natural resources and study in the fresh air. I don't know what made me think like that but I have felt it a lot better compared to staying inside the classroom or inside my living room. Even today if I would like to read something interesting or something like a book I like the most, I prefer sitting under a tree or on the terrace where there is nice scenic beauty around me.
Outdoor sessions
I remember that even during my school and college days, I loved the outdoor sessions more than the indoor classroom sessions. There is a high possibility to get distracted easily but the environment makes us feel a lot more connected to learning instead of staying inside the classroom. During my school days, we used to have power cut sometimes and we will be asked to come to the playground and sit under a tree to study. I still remember those were some of the best sessions that I have ever had. I don't remember what I learned during those sessions but they still stay as a great memory in my mind.
Practical knowledge is way better than textbook knowledge and most of the time the practical knowledge is the only thing that is going to stay forever. If we think about the school memories right now, we would remember only high-level information but some of the things that we learned practically will be remembered forever and it will stay in our mind as a great memory. Outdoor sessions act as great practical learning. Some of us would have learned gardening from our parents and grandparents. Imagine how much of that information still stay intact in our mind than some theorems and algorithms we learned in maths classes in a classroom session.
Nature will talk to us
It is not a coincidence that we prefer or easily get attracted to the natural environment. When we try to interact with the natural world, they also try to do the same with us. Humans are also naturally bound like all other living beings in the world. I would say that the best way of learning something is to do practical learning and especially in a natural environment. Like I gave a gardening example above, most of those learning stay forever in our minds than any knowledge we gain from our textbooks. When we talk to nature, it will definitely talk back to us. Here we may not have any language in between but there will be thoughts associated with that communication.
To conclude, it is very good to create a natural studying environment for the kids than having concrete classroom sessions. In most of the villages in India, before a century all the learning happened only through classrooms that were under a tree. In my personal opinion, I feel that natural classrooms like something under a tree can have more productivity than a concrete classroom session with projectors and all modern equipment inside that. The more we go away from natural learning the more difficult it can become to take anything inside our mind.
