Zena's Misery

"How did things become so different? Where did we miss it? How did we become strangers to each other? Definitely not overnight", Zena thought to herself as she watched the sunset from where she sat.

"We used to be very happy together, there were times when we talked about everything and anything without getting tired or boring each other out", she continued.

"We had plans....the kind of house we wanted, how many kids we wanted, places to visit together and other amazing things on our to-do list", this time she stood up and walked as the memories of the good times began to flood her thoughts.

"I thought we had a good thing going, so where did I go wrong? Why is love so cruel to me? Why do I have to get hurt over and over again? I just want to be loved?".

Having gone through series of breakups Zena was almost sure she was not destined to fall in love. She wish as the sun set, her misery in love would end but it never ends. Each time she comes to the same spot to empty her heart.

Isn't it funny how the memories you cherish before a breakup can become your worst enemies afterwards? The thoughts you loved to think about, the memories you wanted to hold up to the light and view from every angle--it suddenly seems a lot safer to lock them in a box, far from the light of day and throw away the key. It's not an act of bitterness. It's an act if self-preservation. It's not always a bad idea to stay behind the window and look out at life instead, is it?
