I love traveling a lot. I see traveling as a way to achieve inner peace and tranquility while seeing beautiful places I have never seen before. From street shops, coffee shops, mountain climbing, deep sea swimming to visiting religious places, traveling has become a part of my life. Before the Coronavirus19 Pandemic, I travelled to one of the most fascinating retreat houses I have encountered. My friends let me share to you the Schoenstatt Retreat House, my visit and experience in the one of the wonderful religious places in the world.
Schoenstatt is a German word which means a beautiful place. In German religious terms, it was a movement in which the group focuses on self - education and spiritual formation. Hence, Schoenstatt Retreat House was named after the movement primarily on spiritual formation. Located at Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines, it is centered on the mountainous region of the area giving the travellers a breath of nature.
At first, arriving at the retreat house, it was tiresome as we have to walk at least a mile to arrive at the building itself and the lounge (picture above). It would take at least few minutes for an average person to walk. As we were walking, we are greeted by the cool breeze given off by mother nature itself, shedding us from the rays of the sun.
Such is the beauty of the place. We were given a meal overlooking the cliffs and mountains of the area. Deep ravines encircled the area yet the chill breeze gives a person a view of force of the wild.
In the heart of the place lies a chapel overlooking the deep city within the area. Before going home and back to the things they were, we took the advantage of giving our prayers as we visited the chapel itself. The chapel is well decorated as the chapel shows full - grown plants and a landscaped area.
On our way back home, we were offered a ride yet we choose to walk as the place really gives a person a refreshing energy before going back to work. It was an experience worth sharing for. My friends if you do have some time, come and visit this wonderful place!
