I wrote the lyrics to this original song and hired a musician by the name of Douglas Haines to put them to music. In my opinion it has a folk song feeling to it. I hope the lyrics provide vivid imagery and are able to tell an interesting story.
I'd be anxious to hear what people on Steem think of it since I'm posting this in the Original Content community. Lyrics can be found below the video.
The Next Train (original lyrics)
The church and the bells, the train whistle yells
At a man alone on a pew
In a town without people, the church lost its steeple
And the sky has faded from blue
There’s a train and a station, everyday he’s just waiting
As that train begins to move
But he’s got a guitar, big plans in his heart
And says here’s what I’m going to do
On the next train in this town
I’ve got to find some way somehow
Because a man has to leave when he’s chasing a dream
And there’s nothing here for me now
Every day I pass by, he’s still passing time
Waiting but he won’t move
The town he calls home, all that he’s known
Indecision always rolls through
Maybe next time, he says in his mind
As that train begins to move
He hands me the guitar, speaks from his heart
And tells me what I should do
On the next train in this town
You’ve got to find some way somehow
Because a man has to leave when he’s chasing a dream
And there’s nothing here for you now
Many years passed by, like all men he died
Thinking about his youth
Like the end of a song, the town’s almost gone
And I should be leaving too
There’s a train and a station, everyday I’m just waiting
As that train begins to move
But I’ve got a guitar, big plans in my heart
And here’s what I’m going to do
On the next train in this town
I’ve got to find some way somehow
Because a man has to leave when he’s chasing a dream
And there’s nothing here for me now
