The Sunday Monday mistake

in hive-174578 •  5 years ago  (edited)

I'm not perfect. I make mistakes, plenty of them actually, and whilst usually I learn from them and prevent a re-occurrence, sometimes I don't.

Today is the national Public Holiday we get for Australia Day, (26th January), which fell on a Sunday this year...

So, the holiday is on Monday because I think the government would have a revolt on their hands if they made us go to work; We Aussies like our public holidays, and any excuse not to go to work is a good excuse.

So it's Sunday again today, sort of. A Sunday-Monday one could say I suppose. Anyway, it's a day off and whilst I'd planned to start it with a nice little sleep in things turned out differently.

My mistake? It was a reasonably small one, but annoying...I didn't turn off my weekday alarm! Yeah, it went off like it would on a normal Monday and I couldn't get back to sleep. Faith didn't have that problem though and after groaning at me about the alarm she went right back to sleep.

So, what does one do at 6:30am on a Sunday-Monday? Wash cars!

It's now just after 12pm as I sit to write this and I've brought two cars to a level of sparkle that would do any car dealership showroom proud...They look good. Washed, dried, (yes I even opened the doors and dried inside them), wheels washed and tyres shined (with that tyre-shine stuff that works so well...) I get a lot of enjoyment out of having pristine cars...It just feels good and whilst it's a lot of work, I get a lot of enjoyment also.

So, out of the error I made I've found a positive and am pleased I've gotten those chores done, which I hadn't planned to do today, and still have much of the day ahead of me.

Faith is out gardening now which she loves, and I'm going to build some Lego...As you may know I've just spent a couple days competing at a big shooting event and my body is feeling pretty second hand. Add in some car washing (I have big cars so it takes a lot of effort) and I'm feeling like doing nothing much at all. Lego it is.

I should be out cleaning my gun and equipment from the weekends' shooting but...Meh, that can wait...So can the lego probably, but after two intense days of shooting I can take a day off from guns I think.

I hope y'all had a great weekend and for the Aussies here it's still going, so get after it and enjoy the long weekend. For you others...Well, it's probably Monday and you're heading to work. Make the most of the day though, it won't come back around, and life's too short to waste days.

That is amazing that you were that motivated! I hardly ever wash my car. It's still cold here - although we are having some spring like weather so I could wash the car, but Wednesday we will get snow and we will get a lot more before June. We get most of our snow in Feb-May... what I think is funny is how it's still Sunday here and for you it's Monday... Colorado, US... no fires near you, huh?
Blessings!

I like to have a clean car and considering I'm out at gun ranges and in the bush off-roading it means a lot of car washing. I don't mind it though. It would be difficult for me living in an area that had a lot of snow...I'd want to wash my cars but I guess there wouldn't be much point. Whilst you're getting snow we'll have 110F+ heat in Feb and March and the winders here are quite mild where I live. Adelaide, South Australia.

Yeah, the time difference is funny huh? We say the rest of the world is behind us...Because in time they are. Just a dumb joke.

We had fires yeah, Kangaroo Island was half burned out plus the Adelaide Hills copped some also...I was safe though, despite being only 20 minutes away from the Adelaide Hills. All good, but thanks for asking.

That’s awesome. My car is covered under 2 feet of snow. I have to wait until July 1st before I can wash it.

Hmm, what a stark contrast. It's 24 degrees (75F) right now, blue skies with just a hint of cloud and well...It's pretty perfect. I snapped that image in the post only about 30 minutes ago so it shows the day pretty clearly. I can't imagine washing a car in the snow can be a lot of fun. You might need to wait...A few months. We're lucky where I live, winters are mild, no snow and can be up to 20C during the day at times. One of the benefits of living in Aus.

Thanks for dropping by.

Yeah.... Canadian winters are no picnic. You need to like -30 Celsius, freezing rain, Ice, slush, huge heating bills, soaring electricity costs... in summers we get mosquitos and black flies. And everyone wants to move to Canada. It is very weird.

You paint a bleak picture...Still, I'd love to visit someday. It's on the list for sure. Maybe I'll not come in the deep of winter though. :)

You have to be optimistic to live in Canada. ... summer is just a few months away. Then winter comes again....

Yeah, I've heard that...Seems odd to me coming form down here...All that cold. Brr.

Come in the depth of winter.... it will make you long for summer. That is why we have saunas. I actually just came in from a roll in the snow... after a sauna at 190 F. Nothing like it.

Snow-rolling then sauna-taking sounds...Crazy! But I've heard it has great benefit for the circulatory system.

Ooops about the alarm XD Though it's apparently a good habit to wake up at the same time every day regardless of holiday status o_O I slept in a lot today due to late nights (I really need to stop doing that), J wakes up at 5:30-6am every day whether he's working or not x_x

Also you would probably have a cardiac at the normal state of my car XD

Your Sunmonday sounds nice and chill :) If you made posts about the shooting comp I may have missed them (or I'll see them later because scrolling dow), so I'll let you decide whether to let me find them or tell me how you did ;D

Yeah, I tend to rise at around the same time each day unless we've had a really late night. I usually go to bed around midnight so it'd have to be a super-late night to see me sleep in much.

Results post coming later tonight. I finished third in my Division and Grade though. Had a good result I guess...Second of the losers.

P.s. Messy cars drive me nuts!

Pfft were there only three of you in the competition? XP

I'll look for the results post and I will try to remember to take a photo of my car for you later ;D

Yeah, only three in the competition.

That's a tiny comp O_O

300 or so.

State Titles Ry, every state of Australia was represented. Still, I get the joke...3rd of 3 sounds pretty funny...I had a lot of fun and as always I let the results speak for themselves.

IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY MAD ABOUT COMING 3RD OUT OF 300 OR SO I AM GOING TO HIKE OVER THERE AND BEAT YOU CHILD.

Well done! XD

Haha, nah I'm good with it. I would have been happy with mid-pack Ry. It's a fiercely competitive environment.

You're welcome to come over and give me a slappin' though...I'll get some beers and food...We can have a BBQ after you beat me senseless.

I'm happy to surround myself with people who are blessed with the gift of being able to turn a negative into a positive 😃

I hope you enjoy the rest of your MonSunday holiday!

Aww thanks for saying so...Whilst it would be super-cool for me to say I'm always positive, that would be a lie...I always attempt to be though, and that brings more positivity than negativity; Not a bad state to be in I guess.

The Sunday-Monday seems to be going quite well indeed, thank you. It's just gone 5pm and I'm heading to the beach. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. :)

Don't burn yourself out, man :P

I've only gone for a short walk around the neighbourhood over the last few days, and have also done some bits and pieces around the house.

That, and I cleared my photo-editing log.

But, my car is filthy.

Haha, well going to the beach tonight meant grabbing an ice cream at Royal Copenhagen so whilst there was some exercise there was some pay-dirt at the end. I call it car washing reward!

lol..very good sir galenkp, good for you. I was laughing at off gridlife's comments about needing to be optomistic to live in Canada! At least in the winter time, which seems like most of the year!
