Greetings, everybody
Jake Parker just released prompt number 20 of his Inktober52 challenge. I am quite behind schedule to keep drawing on the prompts. I refuse to give up, so here I combine prompt 11 (Tower) and 12 (Elephant).
Process
As always, I work with pencil up to the last detail and then apply an ink marker. For this drawing I wanted to combine the two words in a way that would honor the elephant's magestic figure.
I thought about drawing a tower made up of elephants, probably dead ones, as a statement against criminal hunting. But then I settled for something less polemic, less gruesome.
I imagined an ancient kingdom where elephants were so venerated and loved that a whole castle would be built with imposing elements to remind their enemies what animal ruled there.
I tried to make it as imposing as possible. I draw the two huge elephant statues guarding the main entrance and an even bigger elephant head as a facade on the main tower.
The details were the hard part. My right arm is hurting after I climbed a mango tree to cut some branches, but I just could not resist the temptation of addings as many designs as possible to try to add some elegance to this tower.
Now I have cramps all over my arm after drawing all those bricks, rocks, and achways.
I came up with this symbol in the middle. It does not mean anything in particular, at least not intentionally.
Finally, the ink. It always changes the overall look of the drawing. It some areas, I like what it does; in others, I feel I lose what the pencil provides, but I am very happy with the result.
I hope you liked it. This was my idea of a kingdom far away where elephants rock and rule!
Thanks for your visit
