Revised Queen of Hearts [+ Storyboard Expansion]

Day 38 of 100 Days of Making Erotic Comics. Yesterday I redesigned the Queen of Hearts, and added more interesting color.

You can see here the before and after pictures of the Queen of Hearts character. This was the only character I didn't do a character sheet for, though I did some initial research for what she might look like. The crown has gotten more realistic, and she has gotten more hair, and I have removed the ostentatious heart at the top of the crown.

I also diversified my colors, so that I enjoyed looking at the painting more.

I also restructured my storyboard approach yesterday.

I'm calling it quits on the previous storyboard format -- which was structured as follows:

I did 6 of these, coming in at 6x9 -2 pages, the majority of which were multiple panels per page.

The reason I structured things this way was because the 3x3 grid worked really well for my screen in photoshop, so I could have them all on there at once, and then save on memory usage for my laptop.

[I am not super fond of the laptop, but it does its job without too many errors as long as I keep the file size down, and don't stress the system. I will probably make an investment in a new system later on this year.]

Anyways -- due to these hardware constraints, I thought that the 3x3 grid was a good way to structure and paint things -- but I'm thinking an even larger file size, that looks like this is where I'm headed for the rest of the project:

As you can see here, the whole set of pages is visible on a giant "board" as it were.

I'm going through and repainting the characters to have more interesting and consistent colors throughout, and correcting the anatomy problems that I was too lazy to fix last time. It's a basic Rough Draft // Revision approach. -- Get something good and sketchy down -- and then make it a bit less sketchy.

I promise my Kickstarter Backers a 64 page storyboard, so once I've given a color / lighting / anatomy treatment to the pages that have already been made, I'll just sort of play "Slide the Puzzle Pieces around" - on this big document, and then find the places where I could use an extra page or two in order to bring more smoothness, clarification or coherence to the whole story.

I'll also cross-reference this completed story with the original outline.

With those two tools, I ought to be able to find a good spot for the remaining 12 storyboard pages, and then I'll use the colors schemes, and established character designs to do quick sketches for those pages.

Ideally this whole process will be completed by March 7th at the latest -- though I would prefer the end of February.

For now I'll just try to enjoy the repainting process.

*NOTE:
I decided to just do blogs for the 100 day challenge, because people weren't really watching the videos, and this is likely just as informative, if not more.
