Will Technology Allow Us To Communicate Telepathically In The Future?

Technological advancements have benefitted us in a lot of ways. But the most important benefit is that it has always empowered us. It has helped us do away with the limitations that nature has subjected us to.

Take for instance our inability to fly like the birds. We made airplanes to help us fly. We don't have wings but we sure have brains. In essence, our intelligence is all the wings we need to keep breaking out limitations.

Another example comes to mind. We are not as fast as cheetah which can achieve a speed of 58 mph. That's insanely fast and we humans just can't run that fast. But, we made cars and other automobiles that help us travel much faster than Cheetah.

The thing is, technology has always empowered us and helped us evolve artificially. We have already achieved so much that it's difficult to imagine what we will come up with next. Or is it? The current development points to a future where humans will have superhuman capabilities. And one of these is telepathy.

Brain to Brain Communication

You have probably seen telepathy in movies and tv shows. My favourite one is from the X-men movies. The character, Professor Charles Xavier, has the ability to project his thoughts onto other people within a radius of 250 miles.

It certainly seems cool and I'm sure you would jump at the opportunity to have such an ability as well. Sadly, I don't think we can get it through natural evolution. Not as fast as we would like anyway! But technology might help.

There are a lot of companies and scientists that are working to merge the human brain with a computer of sorts. That will give our brains a digital layer. Once that happens, the sky is the limit for what we can do.

Telepathy would theoretically be easy. Imagine sitting around and talking to someone on the other side of the planet with just your brain. No looking at a screen, no typing, no nothing. Just you and the other person. Brain to brain!

Of course, this has insane national-level security risks too and I am sure just as we have regulations in place for other tech, we will have regulations for telepathic communication as well. But in my opinion, it will happen someday. Maybe even in this century. Would you give it a try if given a chance?
