Hello Everyone!

Today we will understand how to perform subtraction of a double digit number from another double digit number. Again, like the previous sessions, we will follow the vedic maths rule  going from left to right unlike the tradition mathematics where we perform subtractions from right to left.

Double Digits Subtraction

Let’s understand with the help of a few examples:

Now at first glance, we can see that all of the individual columns in the above problem are match combinations. So we simply start from left to right. We have already learnt the subtraction results of match combinations in the previous tutorial, now we will just apply that.

So we do 7-2 and write the answer at the tens place and then 6-4 and write the answer at the ones place. The answer becomes 52.

Now let’s see how we solve problems when we have mismatch combinations on the units place.

Again, at the first glance we know that the units place is a mismatch combination. So starting with the left, we do 9-1 and then subtract another 1 from the answer (since unit’s place is a mismatch combination. So we write 7 at the tens place.

Next, we think of 6’s compliment and add it to the numerator (4+1)

So the answer becomes 75.

This method is very less time consuming compared to the traditional method.

Try to resolve the below problems using the method shown above:
