that is about 45x 300-page novels

And I don't have a nonsense signature of 300 words...

That was my signature for the last three years, with little variation. It didn't speak about me being the first here, as I wasn't, I came at the start of 2017. It was that everything I posted on Steem was original, mine - with very little exception.

My aim was to pay for baby formula. It didn't happen. Instead, I looked to invest into the new economy through sweat equity, which happened to a point. At the moment, the value of 3 years of my work is in the hands of others and I have very little control over where it goes, to the gutter or the stars.

It is what it is. I have accepted a zero outcome for some time and even though it has increased in likelihood, I have kept producing as best I can daily. At some point, everything I have worked on will be copied and moved to another blockchain and while my content will survive, I will have to begin again in so many other areas. A lot of people have been waiting for this opportunity, I know how much work it takes.

But, there is what we can control, what we can influence and what is beyond our reach. Much of what happens on the blockchain is beyond my reach, a fraction of it I may influence and that only happens through controlling myself as completely as I can.

That includes my feelings.

We each have the cards we are dealt, it is up to us how we play them. Some people will be glad they didn't put the effort into something that will likely fail. I am glad that I did put the effort in, even if it fails.

It might all be meaningless, other than the meaning we each apply it.

We'll be fine. Some bumps may occur during the transition but the community will move and we'll continue building it up.

After all, all we ever have is our knowledge, our mindset, and our skills. The rest is temporary. With the new technology moving it closer and closer to something stable...wait for it...under certain conditions. As all systems are. Energy in. Energy out. Ballance.

Energy in. Energy out. Ballance.

the problem can be though that those who put the energy, aren't the ones to get the energy out :D

Getting anything out (sounds like a heavy task) still requires energy, doesn't it?

depends, once the pipes are laid, the conduit transfers relatively freely.

We’re in crypto so there’s only one answer to all this, right?

While I always limited my commitment, not necessarily my time spent here, I’m happy I stayed. Where does the road lead to next? I don’t know but then again ever since I joined I’ve never known where this would lead to but I’m still eager to discover if this tech, and community, can eventually find its thriving spot or is merely a Fata Morgana.

I really hope that the new Hive doesn't have to carry the poison of the old with it. There is more than just the ninja mine hanging over our heads here and if people want decentralized governance to work, we have to work with it.

Such a very good point! I hope that some of that poison is addressed. I suspect in the name of getting things up and running it wont be at first and then the good intentions will go on the back burner only to be kicked far far down the park.

I could be totally wrong though and would be very happy to be proved so :)

I am expecting the same, but will work for different....

Can but hope!

There is always hope. Obi-wan.

If there isn't hope then there are always sticks

😂

Steem is just nothing in the absence of real users. Now, We do have it. Let's agree to create and move to place where no one can control us.. Peace!

Yep, but I hope that on the new chain users realize that investing requires some money ;D

Sadness, only sadness.
Madness, only madness.
Is it better to have Steemed and lost,
or to have never Steemed at all.

Anyone who has been around for any length of time "in here," is most likely at least somewhat familiar with your efforts @tarazkp. Being one of them, I believe you are in a class of your own.

"... and that only happens through controlling myself as completely as I can. That includes my feelings."

"I am glad that I did put the effort in, even if it fails."

I can imagine what you might be feeling, although of course I cannot know. From what you have written in the past, I trust whatever happens, you have belief that your effort has had benefits well beyond the narrower focus of the economic potential for what value these tokens may someday hold.

How you balance that potential with the other benefits, only you can say. And what ultimate value these (or the future) tokens hold, the combined efforts of you and many others will have the final say.

For myself, I don't think the tokens will have a value of $0.00, given there are too many who seem willing to keep up their efforts and fight on. A value commensurate with the time invested though? I guess we'll all find out someday ...

One thing is for sure, in my view. This "latest chapter" of the Steem blockchain story is one for the history books. I am glad to have lived through all of it, come what may.

I can imagine what you might be feeling, although of course I cannot know.

The economic loss/potential loss is only one part of the equation, the effort another, the emotional investment a third... at the moment, the rest of the events of the world are going to be much heavier losses.

Come what may.

Yep @tarazkp ...

"... the rest of the events of the world are going to be much heavier losses."

... much, much heavier. That is already the case. I've already written my "minority report" on the coordinated and unprecedented global actions taken thus far. As an "old timer," in spite of the "perfect scenario" against which to enact them, let's just say I am more than a little skeptical of their true intentions. And the almost inevitable unintended (?) consequences ...

Just thinking of all the services and apps that will have to find new names to shed the Steem. Will be cool to see what people come up with! Here’s to the future that we create, not the past we couldn’t participate in.

It is never a good idea to tie oneself to a name ;D
