As hospitals face a shortage of personal protective equipment amid the coronavirus outbreak, Apple announced it is aiming to design and produce 1 million face shields per week for medical workers. CEO Tim Cook said the masks can be assembled in two minutes and that the company’s first shipment was to Kaiser hospital facilities in the Santa Clara Valley this past week. Cook also said that Apple has donated 20 million N95 masks to organizations that need them.
Cook said that Apple's face shield design can be packed 100 to a box and can be assembled in two minutes.
