The common and grevy’s stripped survivors of the wild.

In the animal kingdom, there are different species of birds, animals, and plants. By saying different types of species I mean, in the bird kingdom we have birds like the taraco, kingfisher, the crested canes, hadada ibs, grey parrots, shoebill to mention but a few, are all birds.
Just like in the human world we have African, Asians, Americans, Europeans but we are one people. Many times we often see the zebras in serval national parks but did you know that there are two different kinds of zebras.

These animals are found is in the horse family, they have black defined strips that settle on a white coat all over their bodies. Zebras also have a tendency of rolling on the dusty ground to bath and also remove parasites from its body.

Interestingly, they can sleep while standing. you may thing that these animals are all the same since all have similar black strips but thy have different patterns on them and this is how they can recognise each other just like how human beings have different fingerprints.

The common zebra.

This zebra is found in most of the game parks in Africa, these animals have great sight and great hearing this helps them in knowing how to escape from predictors. Their strips help them hide in the brushes from predictors as well.

This kind of zebra travels long distances in such of food and water. This can be seen during the wildebeest migration where wildebeests and zebras cross the Mara river into Serengeti national park. Well as they cross, most of the die due to the great stampede or some of them succumb to the jaws of the crocodiles.

The grevy zebra.

This type of zebra is rare and can only be found in specific areas in Africa. In east Africa, it's only found in Kenya in a place called Samburu National park. They are one of the endangered species.

The common difference between the plain common zebra and the grevy’s zebra is the black strips. The grevy’s has thinner and small strips of black that is carpeted to a white coat of skin. The black strips don’t meet at the bottom of the stomach. Whereas the common zebra has well defined black lines that are big and easy to notice. One might wonder why it was called the Grevy’s zebra???
It was named by a naturalist called Emile Oustalet in1882 who wanted to honour the president of France then François Judith Paul Grévy. This type is bigger and more aggressive, it’s a solitary animal unlike the common zebra. Have a pale nose and also appear brown.

Look carefully at the two zebras.

My prayer is that these animals don’t become extinct because they are a beautiful site to see and I would like to own a huge chunk of land and put these zebras. This will help our future generation.
