MAKING HAND MADE DOORMATS

Hello everyone, a good evening to you all. I hope you all passed through the day successfully.
Well my day has been a busy one and getting time to relax gives me this thought of writing about the door mats I have been making the whole day.

Door mats are small mats or carpets that are always put in the door way used for cleaning one's legs before they enter the house.
This is because sometimes we come with dust and mud and so incase one enters with the dirty legs, the house will automatically get dirty.
But when there are doormats in the door way, one cleans their legs so the house barely gets dirty. There is no need of frequently mopping the house with these door mats around.

Being idle because my school is not yet open, I personally came up with the idea of making hand made door mats and these keep me busy one of these days so my time is always fruitful.

The equipment I use are;

1Tapestry mats
2.Chunky yarn (threads big size)
3.Locking needles
4.Measuring tape
5.Marker

The procedure for making is;

Get a tapestry mat and cut it according to the shape you want.

You should then a measuring tape and measure considering the size of the door mat you want to make.

If at all you want to make a door mat with a name or any writing, get your marker and write the word you want considering the position you want to put the word.

You then get your yarn and cut small pieces depending on the length of the yarn you want to be raised,or the thickness you want the door mat to be like.

After this,grab your yarn and start knitting in every hole that is on the tapestry mat so as the door mat can be very thick and perfectly knitted.

This is not compulsory knitting in every hole,you can use some other designs like making tassels. With tassels, you can skip some holes and then put in the next because the tassels already have enough yarn.

You can use different colors of yarn for example incase your including any writing on the door mat,you can use white for the name and then black for the outer part. Mixing colours actually makes the door mat good looking,I personally prefer playing with the different colors everytime I make one.

When your done knitting a piece of yarn in every hole,you then lift the whole it up so that all the yarn is straightened. You then cut off any threads that are longer than the others so that they all appear equal.

After all this, your done with making your door mat and good to go. You can now make that door way pretty good for the legs.

This is the yarn or threads I use. The reason I prefer chuncky yarn is that it is very thick and so soft so once the door mat is finished,it appears more like a woolen carpet. It is actually thicker and softer than a woolen carpet. You can also use it to make a very big carpet enough for a living room. It is very comfortable and so you can even lie on it and feel relaxed.

Yeah you should, process ain't hard as long as u give it time

This is a creative way to spend time. They are beautiful. Though I see one with a cream-ish color, doesn’t that get dirty quickly?

They are customized, you can do any color you want as long as you can manage it😂 you can also do white though it gets dirty quickly but you kn beauty lies in the hands of the beholder. But you can as well wash it once it gets dirty

Yeah absolutely. I think one needs many so they can easily change. Though they seem like they dry quickly.
