This mental illness can be triggered by so many factors, that's why taking care of our mental health is very necessary and important. A depressed person is drained, he has an unstable state of mind, feelings of hopelessness, sadness and a lost of interest in activities, even activities that gets him motivated in a every day life.

According to findings , about 280,000,000 people in the world are depressed and a lot of them eventually die because of it. This is a result of going through tough times and challenges which sometimes may be unbearable for such person/persons. Issues such as traumatic events, unemployment or life threatening diseases or illness can result in depression.

Depression can manifest in states listed below;

1 major depression(a constant state of sadness)

2 persistent depressive disorder(dysthymia)

3 bipolar disorder (can result in mood swing)

4 postpartum disorder (associated pregnancy and child birth)

5 psychotic disorder (delusions, hallucinations)

6 major depressive disorder with seasonal patterns (mainly experienced by people who live in areas of reduced sunlight)

Even a feeling of self worthlessness can trigger the illness called depression. People who compare themselves to others become depressed when they feel unmatched or unequal with the other person.

Some people feel unfulfilled because of what others have achieved, peer pressure is a thing that must be avoided by anyone who wants to do away with depression. Truly every human wants to become better and wants to do great, but you don't have to become or aspire for what others have or who they are, else your whole being gets into competition throughout life.

Normally, as humans, there is an appetite for greatness, but the first step to conquering competitions with our fellow humans is to be contented.

Rather than counting your losses, why not be grateful for your gains? Everyone is living good, but the angle through which you see life is important.

Some of the solutions to depression includes,
psychotherapy, support from loved ones and family members, drug treatment as the doctor may prescribe.

One thing is always necessary to remember as a human being, you have the power to control your mind, you can chose to be happy regardless of what happens to you.

I really enjoyed reading through this post and must say that no matter what it is and how it seems in this life we should endeavor to make sure that we as human fight depression in whatsoever medium it is in our lives. One way to stay afloat depression is to be contented with whatsoever that you have. It is not always easy to do so but we should endeavour to put in any medium to ensure that we combat it.

I have seen money as a big factor that has made a lot of person depress, the money you needed money for some thing and you find out that at the end it is hard to come by and almost everybody wants you to deliver, this is where depression comes in between.

Yes brother, that money factor is a common one

Hi @adesojisouljay Very good post, personally and referring to my experioencia, thanking is a really interesting therapy, tell the good things and feelings you have, focus on what you have and not what you lack, that boosts enthusiasm at different levels, but you get to optimize the mood. Depression is said to be the great evil of humanity.

Yes, Being thankful and a grateful heart heals.

Thank you

hello @adesojisouljay,
this is a very common illness nowadays, partly because of the pandemic that kept us locked up and afraid, now all those accumulated feelings make us fall into depressive states that many times we cannot control. personally i suffer from many episodes of depression and it is not easy to control them, the best thing to do in these cases is to get away from what is causing the depression in order to find a way out of your mood.

You did said well, thanks for reading my post.

You are awesome, you mean a lot to me

Dear @adesojisouljay

I just bumped into one of your older publications. I must admit that this topic got me interested right away.

Truth be told, I myself never experienced real depression and even thinking about killing myself never really crossed my mind (while many people out there suffer that way). So it's very difficult for me to understand what depressed person is going through.

Have you ever been in that state of mine, in which you're depressed to the point of not wanting to continue your life? I wonder.

Yours, Piotr

I have actually not, but i have been depressed to the point of falling sick when i got financially down in 2020.

But before then and after then, i haven't had any of such experience.

Many people are experiencing or have experienced various forms of depression at some points in their lives. You did an excellent job by listing ways of dealing with, and overcoming depression.

Nice piece buddy

Thanks brother, you are awesome 😊

Hello mate!

about 280,000,000 people in the world are depressed and a lot of them eventually die because of it.

That's some serious scary number but I might say that a great portion is due to today's lifestyle which everyone is now only attached to their phones which usually makes socializing between people less and less, and that leads not to find someone to talk to which usually leads to depression.

I live somewhere that depression isn't as spread as other parts of the world due to big families and some traditions.

Thanks for sharing!
