To create an alert, simply go to http:// www. google. com/alerts .

Enter the keywords for your search .
Choose the type of results you're looking for news, blogs, threads, videos or whatever, which I recommend.
Determine the frequency of sending once a day, a week or immediately, ie each time an event occurs.
Indicate the number of results best or all results
Finally, select the sending method by email indicating your email address or via an rss feed reader - we will come back to this option later
Validate your alert by clicking on the create alert button.
Google displays a preview of the results you will receive by email on the right of the screen.

Tips and tricks

Alternatives
Google Alerts is of course not the only monitoring tool on the market. There are a number of variations which render more or less the same services. Here are a few.

Giga Alert : basically works the same as Google Alerts but is based on the Yahoo search engine. This American software is paid from 4 to 30 euros per month but offers more search parameters.
Social Mention Alert : from the meta-engine of the same name, this tool is more oriented towards social media; he scrutinizes 90 of them.
Icerocket : this real-time search engine no results dating back more than 6 months allows you to query blogs, Twitter and Facebook to find what is circulating on social networks at the time of the query. More details here .
