Unearthly heroism - a galaxy that is stronger than black holes was discovered

Objects in our cosmos, such as black holes, come in many different sizes, but they all absorb incredible amounts of matter and, according to scientists, this is what causes galaxies to die. But that was until astronomers discovered object CQ4479, a galaxy capable of confronting a black hole.

Against all odds.
What happens when black holes "eat up" galaxies. During such a process, a quasar, one of the brightest objects in the Universe, begins to form. This very object leads to the fact that the birth of stars inside the galactic space stops. But the discovered galaxy in question does not die from such destructive processes, which surprised researchers.

During the study it was noticed that at the very center of CQ4479 there is a quasar, while it is of a special type - cold, and inside it there is a hole with an active appetite. But even such an energetic hole cannot absorb all the cold gas. Therefore, star formation continues inside the galaxy further, and it is not destroyed. A perfect example of resilience!

Science previously believed that as soon as a quasar appears in a galaxy, star formation in it ends almost immediately. Then several times it was noted that there are galaxies that live with quasars, though, they are cold, that is, their reserves of cold gas are not depleted, and the birth of stars can continue. But all this suggests that everything has its time, and I wonder to what limit the galaxy with such inhabitants inside it will reach.

Turning science around.
However, CQ4479 has another interesting feature - per year it is able to create up to 100 stars, the size of which is comparable with the size of the Sun. That is, the galaxy does not suffer at all from the fact that a quasar with a constantly hungry black hole lives inside it. Productivity, as they say, only grows, which is extremely surprising when a very voracious black hole is located nearby. Such finding of astronomers can shed light on the question of the emergence of most massive galaxies, and also think about the already known to all theories of the evolution of all galaxies in the aggregate.

Thanks to CQ4479, it became clear that even a process such as the active growth of black holes does not instantly affect the process of star formation. And this certainly does not agree with the scientific predictions known so far. For 2021, scientists have planned a new study, which will try to find out whether this happens in other galaxies, whether such processes as the birth and development of a star and the growth of a black hole occur simultaneously inside them. It will also help to understand what effect quasars have on the shape of the galaxy within which they exist.
The appetite for objects such as black holes is sometimes astounding. Not long ago, astrophysicists were lucky enough to see for the first time the "dinner" of a hole, and from beginning to end. And it is an incredible sight, because the hole turned a huge star into spaghetti and only then swallowed it.
