Today Splinterlands has submitted a new proposal for the daily burn of unsold chaos legion packs. This proposal is good and I like the initiative that they are going to bring to the community. Having more packs in the market is not good because they will always be available to buy and because of this pack prices will not grow from the cards of this edition. The total supply for chaos legion packs is 15 million out of which 10.3 million packs are already sold out and approx 4.7 million packs are unsold. The sale of 10 million packs in 1 year is one of the big milestones I believe but at the same time keeping another half million packs unsold is not good in terms of inventory management.
With this new proposal, they are planning to burn these packs every day starting from the first of December 2022. I have gone through the proposal and would like to share a few things here-
Splinterlands will start burning 25000 packs every day until March 31st, 2023, or if the packs are sold out earlier. This means if packs are sold out before the 31st of March next year then the burn process will stop automatically. If the remaining packs are not sold out then the burn will continue till 31st March which means the burger period will be 4 months.
25000 packs will be burnt every day as per the time decided later. This will not affect AirDrop and whenever it reaches the milestone AirDrop will happen.
Once all the packs are there sold out or burnt out then these packs will not be part of the reward anymore. It means after this we will not be able to earn chaos legion packs through focus or season loot chests. I think this is good because ultimately will be getting some other rewards and just for this reason holding the pack is not a good idea.
With this update they have also announced the next edition of cards which will be called rebellion. They are planning to release these packs in mid of 2023. I expect that the burn will continue till 31st March 2023 so they will probably take 3 months time to launch another edition of cards in the game.
I think they need to take a break from the cards because we already have received watchers in place and bringing so many cards in the game is not required as of now until and less BC massive onboarding in the game. I also expect that the approval of the recent proposal which was to make the adjustment in the reward as per the card level will make a positive impact and demand should be increased.
Why this burn is good because people who will be holding the packs will be able to book some profit later on when the price increases. I have purchased 600 facts already and also planning to buy another lot of 3 to 400 to come so that I can complete my 1000-pack milestone. I need a rough calculation today and found that buying the pack through DEC token is profitable. The cost of one pack is $ 4 but with DEC we can get it for 2.5$ so this way we can save $1.5 on each pack. Your planning to buy 100 packs then you will need to pay 400 in total if you choose to pay through credits but if you choose to pay through d EC then you can get the same amount of packs for just $250.
As per the current market price for DEC tokens we can get 4000 tokens for about 2.5 USD and I think this is of fantastic deal that we should not miss if you are planning to buy. The reason why this is an opportunity is because of the low price for DEC and it is not pegged. This can be even better if you are buying a minimum of 100 packs and use vouchers along with it. I hope that this proposal gets past and this will help the pack holders to get better value once these are taken out from the shop in the game.
Thank you
I think this will be a good move that will help the Splinterland ecosystem to sole extent. Any way let us watch as it goes.
