Dear readers, in several articles I have been addressing some aspects of interest on sustainable development and the rational use of ecological resources, all this, starting from an agricultural approach taking into account that they are natural spaces that are intervened by man to produce food, unfortunately for many years the role of the environment and its resources in the management of crops has been unknown, the belief had been maintained that the environment was exogenous and that we could dispose of natural resources at our whim, today it is recognized that the environment plays a key role in achieving sustainability in terms of food production, therefore, emerged the agroecological paradigm mentioned in the previous article integrating new practices that allow a redesign of the spaces to achieve a diversification of the same.
I am sure that many of you, dear readers, know about agriculture and the spaces where food is grown, known as haciendas or farms, nowadays these terms have changed a lot and it is recognized that these spaces are natural ecosystems, that is why they are called agroecosystems, a quite accurate term that encompasses the essence of these spaces. According to Hart (1985), an agroecosystem has characteristics, structures and functions similar to a natural ecosystem, with a large animal-vegetable community that interacts with the physical environment, producing flows of materials and energy that enter and leave different subsystems. The subsystems are those that complete the systems, for example, in a diversified agroecosystem, livestock would be a subsystem where resources such as veterinary medicine, technical assistance and supplements enter and also resources such as meat and milk leave; in the same way, another subsystem could be the banana crop present in the same productive space.
Based on the considerations of the previous paragraph, a diversified agroecosystem seeks to mitigate the causes of pollution and ecological degradation, by avoiding the rupture and destabilization of the components present in it, for example, if different forage, fruit and forest species are established, we would be diversifying and thus achieve the balance of productive space in addition to having enough genetic material, which allows us to continue in the future with its propagation.
To conclude, dear readers, it is important to point out that there are different diversified agroecosystems that can be classified depending on the species that are cultivated in the productive space, among them we can mention the following: agroforestry systems, where trees are associated with agricultural crops; agroforestry systems, which consists of the association of trees with agricultural crops and pastures and silvopastoral systems where trees are associated with pastures. I hope that the information provided will clarify some doubts about it, thank you for staying with me until the end.

Hi @amestyj, agrosystems are fundamental for the maintenance of the ecosystem, because in this way the negative impact of field work on the ecosystem is minimized.

hello @amestyj,
One of the things I like about agroecology is that while food is produced, nature is also taken care of, in Venezuela with the shortage of agricultural products such as pesticides, farmers have had to make small agricultural ecosystems where what the cattle eat is produced on the same farm, also with animal waste the land is fertilised, also in chicken farms avocado trees are planted so that the plant provides shade for the chickens and chicken droppings serve as fertiliser for the plants.

Greetings friend @amestyj, an important topic, I have always thought that farms should be balanced places with the environment in which they are present, many times they only devastate the local physical and vegetable environment to make way for livestock, altering the ecosystem, we must seek ways to avoid breaking and destabilize the components present in the environment as you mention, and try to harmonize economic activities with the environment.

Thank you very much friend @amestyj for such didactic post regarding culture and agricultural exploitation, it is a universe so beautiful and unfortunately so abandoned in our country, to think that for almost a century this sector (the primary one) kept us as one of the main economic powers of America and the world ... hopefully those times will return.

Greetings @amestyj, the truth is that I have basically no knowledge about agricultural ecosystems, but I know that there are very good trained personnel in the Colon Municipality where we reside and you are one of them.
