Euthanasia or assisted suicide

Dear community, today I bring a topic that is difficult to reconcile because it will depend a lot on the spiritual and argumentative beliefs of each one, as well as on the scientific knowledge, it has been going around in my head since I recently read an article about it. Doctors, philosophers, nurses, theologians, jurists, moralists, have been writing, discussing and drafting different texts about euthanasia for a long time, trying to achieve a faithful final product: technical and scientific severity in the treatment and brightness, simplicity in the exposition of reasons, I think it has not been an easy task. However, recently, by giving it other names such as assisted suicide, assisted death, ending suffering, has made the subject a little more bearable from a communication point of view.

t is impossible to ignore that in the public debate there is also a manipulation of the context by those in favor of euthanasia, whose result is to present to the public opinion the reality of euthanasia as something more harmless than what is said "sweet death", "dignified death", thus promoting social acceptance; as if the act of a human being giving death to another human being, well executed and voluntarily, did not exist, even if the motivations that encourage him to perform the action are noble and beneficial. This is another debate, the decision of the one who wants to practice it, all very valid arguments and the executor of the same.

The world has progressed in humanitarianism by withdrawing in many countries the power of judges to decree death with the abolition of the death penalty. The supporters of euthanasia respectfully take a step backwards, if such power is given to doctors, this issue takes special delicacy since this would achieve two regressions: they would establish a variety of legal death again and would definitely degrade the practice of medicine as a means to save lives. To place a doctor who has sworn first to do no harm, to determine who can continue to live or not is one of those paradoxes that today's world leads us to reflect upon.

"The action of killing is not a therapeutic medical activity in itself. It does not restore health, nor does it preserve life. The only way to understand the action of killing as a "therapeutic" act is to consider the sick person not as what he is, a sick person, but as a disease. In that case the "therapeutic" action of killing constitutes an action of eugenic social cleansing and that is simply not acceptable to the physician." Brohman

I leave you for reflection, each one with specific beliefs and environments, which I equally respect and value, I believe that to stop suffering is a human right, now that the doctor is the officiant will be of benefit to life on earth ?.... I would like to know your opinion.

Greetings @sandracarrascal, no doubt everything depends on our state of mind, there are times when apathy levels are so high that our motivation is on the floor. So we must have an alternative system that allows us to go beyond the discouragement and I believe that in this process to be intentional to be planned and respect that planning which allows us to move beyond the apathetic that we can feel.
Entertaining reading, greetings.

@madridbg Dear friend, I think you have mistaken your comment with the post of another writer, thank you.

I support euthanasia, I know that there are cases that merit it, besides, every person should have the right to decide for his or her life in case he or she deserves it. I am a doctor and I know that many patients suffer from very cruel diseases, but well, each case is different and each person has their beliefs and religions. Greetings!
