To add to your post, snapshot is also applied in IEOs and IDOs where early investor are required to commit a minimum amount of specified tokens like BNB, BGB or OKB to get new tokens. Investors holdings of these specified tokens are snapshot before committing for accurate record and distribution of the IEO tokens either on exchange launchpad
