Should educational centers be opened in Venezuela?

The situation that is currently being experienced as a result of the pandemic caused the educational centers to close their doors with the sole purpose of cutting the chain of contagion of COVID-19, although it has been more than a year since the educational centers closed their doors, it is still not clear when it will be possible to return to the classrooms, since the virus continues to affect the population.

Although it is true that Venezuela, due to its economic, political and social situation, was not prepared to move from a face-to-face education system to a distance education system, the Venezuelan state was forced to implement distance education with the home schooling program, which was applied at all educational levels.

In previous publications we have already mentioned that Venezuelan education has lost the quality of its education, since not having the necessary technological tools to implement distance studies and the lack of preparation or training of teachers to teach their classes through virtual classrooms has generated this situation of deterioration in the quality of education, in addition to this there is the great problem that citizens are experiencing with the electricity service and internet service that are presenting problems on a daily basis.

All this situation described above forces to think and put on the stage the gradual return to the classroom, of course it is a decision that must be analyzed in detail because the virus is still in our environment causing large numbers of infections and deaths worldwide. In Venezuela in particular, the virus is on an upward curve that makes it impossible at this time to call for a return to the classroom.

Regarding this possible call to classes, educators were consulted at national level and most of them agreed with the need to reopen schools as soon as possible in order to guarantee a more effective teaching-learning process and to reduce social inequalities. The teachers emphasized that this decision should not only be analyzed for the effects of the pandemic, but also to evaluate the conditions in which the schools are located.

Likewise, all the biosecurity measures established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and those implemented by the Venezuelan state as complementary measures must be guaranteed to the members of the educational community. To conclude, it is a very difficult decision to make because the virus has not given truce and continues its wave of expansion and contagion and for nothing in the world should the educational community and much less the children be exposed to COVID-19.

Hello my dear friend @carlir, in spite of the existing difficulties to teach distance classes, I consider like you, that until progress is made in the vaccination process should not resume face-to-face classes, the situation in Venezuela is not the most suitable for it at this time.

See you later brother, have an excellent start of the week.

Hello friend @amestyj, it is correct that this is not the right time to return, but we must find strategies to improve distance education.

Greetings brother and thanks for your contribution.

Greetings my dear @carlir, the return to class from my perspective should be a topic that comes to the fore when we achieve progress in the vaccination process, on the other hand if we want the quality levels of the educational process to improve, they must be met with the demands of educational actors, who demand better conditions to be able to develop such a laudable mission. Thanks for your input

Greetings @madridbg, The issue is already on the discussion table hopefully and not impulsive decisions are made that harm our children, personally if it is decided to return in these circumstances to classes my daughter will not attend her school, I will not expose her to such a risk.

Definitely one of the major hurdles to overcome for the start of classes in Venezuela is the difficulties due to lack of vaccination, the environment, gasoline, because teachers and students in many cases need transportation to move to the institutions.
And the technological platforms offered by the state and private companies together with the purchasing power of Venezuelans to acquire a high-tech phone to be able to receive classes by this way.
There is still a long way to go, thanks for sharing.

Greetings@joseph1956, I agree with your comment, there are still many things to be resolved before making such an important decision to return to the classroom, the first is the mass vaccination and then the list of requirements needed to reopen the schools.

Thank you for your contribution.

Hello dear friend @carlir

Without further reading, to your question Should educational centers be opened in Venezuela, my particular answer is NO.

I think that beyond the desires of the Venezuelan society to return to their normal activities, the state is not able to provide security in biosecurity issues, much less hospital care.

Venezuela is not at any minimum level to return to on-site classes, this would aggravate the situation.

Best regards, be well.

Hello dear friend @lupafilotaxia, I completely agree with your comment, like you I think that returning at this time to schools would cause an even bigger problem with the virus, because even if the biosecurity measures are implemented and complied with we must remember that they are children and they sometimes ignore the rules.

Thank you for your contribution.

This evil virus, created by a small group of evil men under the tutelage of another small group of Chinese men, has made our world a more dangerous world.
If you are right, it has been more than a year and a half since the schools and universities have opened their doors, and I think it is necessary for the children to return to normal classes so that they can interact and learn what a teacher knows how to teach.

I wish this situation would end so that my daughters can go back to school.

This virus has even changed our lifestyles.

Hi @lanzjoseg. we all really wish that this virus could be eradicated as soon as possible so that our children can resume their school activities in schools, but at the rate we are going it seems that for this year that will not be possible and we will continue with the confinement and distance learning.

Greetings my friend.

Greetings my friend @carlir. Although it is certainly necessary to ensure an effective teaching-learning process, I think that if the vaccination process in the country does not advance faster, it would not be wise to return to the classroom, many teachers are exposed just to go to their jobs. In my region, even before the quarantine, there were many deficiencies in basic services, and especially the water supply is still unresolved.

Greetings @emiliomoron, Certainly that is one of the most important limitations that prevents the return to the classroom "Vaccination", and in Venezuela has not yet begun to massively vaccinated, coupled with this the conditions in which the schools are.

Thank you for your comment.

I think it might be possible in September; the vaccination is going fast now.

Greetings @chesatochi, it is a probability in my opinion that it will spread because here in Venezuela vaccination is not keeping pace with other countries.

Thanks for commenting.

Definitely the conditions in some countries are not suitable for return. Especially in South America. The sad thing is that in these same countries access to technology is not the same for all students.

It is correct @lynnmargullys, not all countries have the same technological capacity to deal with this situation, in Venezuela specifically we are not prepared for distance education, although efforts have been made by teachers there are other limitations that prevent the proper development of activities with this distance system.

good post friend @carlir , education is no stranger to the evolution of technology, it was demonstrated worldwide.

Greetings @rubenp, technology is present in all areas of our lives and more in education, which is why in these times of pandemic is one of the most important tools for teaching.

Hi dear friend @carlir

that Venezuelan education has lost the quality of its education

As a Venezuelan, that topic seems very interesting, I have my own opinion about why in Venezuela the educational level is so low, I understand that it is not the worst, but if it is of low quality, the only explanation that fits me is the human factor, students mediocre and unmotivated teachers cannot generate excellence, I hope that in the future with better economic conditions, education will improve
