Only a life time (a song review)

How do you know if you did everything right in life?

Is it the Love that meets you at the door or is the money in your Hive wallet?

How do you know
If you've done everything right?
Is it the love you have at hand
Or the cash you kiss at night?

I've been listening to this song for a while now soaking in the lyrics and the chords.

The words are so real and applicable to me...

I'm not really sure of my seconds and if I took all the right decisions along the way. I constantly write about just how disheartening the end product gets to feel.

How do you know
If it was worth it in the end?
Did every second really count

I have spent time doing things I didn't love and to regret is such a terrible thing. But I'm comforted with the fact that everything didn't go bad so...I like to tell myself that it's not all regrets cause some things worked out.

Or were there some you shouldn't spend
On anything but anyone you love?
Was this the life that you were dreaming of?
A movie night, a yellow light
You're slowing down and days are adding up

Putting my trust in a preacher

I really do not find their miracles on the mountain attractive nor have I needed them to tell me what I would become. At least for the last couple of years, I haven't.

I'm unimpressed
By the people preaching pain
For the sake of some small gain
In the sake of someone's name

My loved ones

I recently shared a long 2 hours call with my mom after ignoring her calls for some days. I'd be busy at work or I'll have a visitor over. I'll forget to call back but she understands and she keeps calling to know how I am.

I'm unprepared
For my loved ones to be gone
Call 'em way too often now
Worry way too much about mom

My friends and family

If I ever let them go, I'll drop my sanity and it won't matter so much that I was working hard for a better future.

I always ask if a future with all the achievements in the world really matters if you are alone at the end of the day.

It's family and friends, and that's the truth
The fountain doesn't give you back your youth
It's staying up too late at night and laughing under kitchen lights
So hard you start to cry

So to answer the first question in Finneas's song...

How do you know
If you've done everything right?
Is it the love you have at hand
Or the cash you kiss at night?

It's a bit of both...I guess...more of one or the other depending on who you are.

In my family, we value love a lot!!... My dad and mom have been together more years than when they were single...that's a big achievement.

The Chorus

Don't waste the time you have waiting for time to pass
It's only a lifetime
That's only a while
It's not worth the anger you felt as a child
Don't waste the time you have waiting for time to pass
It's only a lifetime
That's not long enough
You're not gonna like it without any love
So don't waste it

Its an advice and it talks a lot about your childhood and keeping beef with your parents.

I wish some of my siblings realized this and did not blame my mother and father for all the wrongs that have happened in their life.

It's really not worth the anger they felt as children...and they take out a good time for progress holding on to the bad blood they first had as kids.

The Song

By my ear, it was played on F#. I've listened to it for so long and when I taped the key while running the key...it sounded so right.

It uses the 7th chord so well (after inversions C, F, D, and G)...in the verse, there are so many repetitions. It gets confusing a whole lot after some bars in the chorus especially when suss chords start flying around...I would really love to score the song... it's on my bucket list.

But there are so many on that list now... it's hard to keep up with, That's why I decided to review songs on #thoughtfuldailypost like this...so I can keep track of beautiful songs that come with thoughts and emotions like this one.

Hope you enjoyed this...Have a lovely day!How

We cannot really tell if we are doing the right thing until we arive at the end of that situation. I simply try not to beat myself up over situations that didn't turn out well for me, I pick up the lessons and move on even if it is not as easy as it sounds.

Yeah...The thing is the song is basically based on that difficult inbetween.

Hi @ebingo A nice message in your post, a bit leads to ask questions and compare life events, thanks for the reflection that is always good at any time, greetings.

You are very welcome...I'm glad you liked it and thanks for stopping by.

I really do not see the need in blaming our parents or even any other person over the events that turned out in our lives, it is a smart choice to pick up lessons and move on everyday and every time.

My close friend would always say, we do not have the capacity to choose our own parents, but we have the very strong ability to choose the type of parent we are going to become.

So true, more people need to realise this and take responsibility for their lives.
