Robotic surgery is considered the future of surgery, the impact it has caused and the improvements in techniques have been very well approved by all.
This advance in technology has many advantages when it comes to medicine, for example, in the operating room greater dexterity and mobility, reduction of tremor which is also an advantage for the patient, allows the doctor to opt for an ergonomic position, all this allows the surgeon to have better access to the tissues and operate more accurately, of course the results for patients have been positive.

As we have seen, this type of surgery has changed many things, not only the way of operating but also the way of teaching, and that implies retraining, since it is something new, perhaps for some it is easier for others not so much, but it is the future and it is time to update.
In previous years when this did not exist, because it was time to perform the surgeries without any kind of machine, only with the surgical instruments, the residents could not practice before a surgery because the surgery was done when the patient was in the operating room, today that has changed, of course I'm not talking about everyone, we know that in some countries not even think that comes.
For example, today with all this progress, there are simulations that can be performed on robots, and thus acquire the experience and skill before going to the operating room, which did not happen before, there are also models that recreate the tissues of the human being, ¿how does this impact education,? I think positively with regard to that the training time can be shorter, unlike before they had to wait until there was a patient with such a pathology.

As everything has its advantages and disadvantages, for some doctors it is more relaxed from the point of view that they are not standing for 8 hours, for example, the robot can reach places inside the body that may be difficult for the doctor, the screen that increases everything, widens the field of vision, usually not as much blood is lost and recovery is faster.
On the other hand, there are positions that indicate the robotic processes that can be harmful to the patient, the robot will not have the same sensitivity or tactile response that humans have when cutting the skin, therefore they can injure nearby organs, burns could also be produced by the electrical current.
Everything has its pros and cons, but the important thing is to know the advantages and disadvantages, in the case of patients and doctors, for my part, my opinion is that robotic surgery will never be able to overcome the years of study and experience of operating alongside the patient, touching and feeling the organs is something that robots can not offer us, is a unique sensation.
Of course it is not bad to update and know how to do everything a little, you do not have to burn because you have to be at the level they ask us, but without forgetting that the most beautiful way to learn medicine is next to the patient not behind a robot.
For those of us who study medicine it can be innovative obviously, but we should not forget our roots as they say out there.
I consider these robots to be like an "assistant" to the human surgeon.
Or perhaps we could compare them with those robotic suits or robotic exoskeletons that "enhance" human capacities.
That is, a surgery done 100% by an autonomous robot is still a utopia.
In my opinion, these tools applied to the field of medicine represent one of the greatest advances in science in this field. I hope the prototypes continue to be refined.
Thanks for this brilliant post.

Hi @franyeligonzalez, great article.
It is very good to know about innovations like this, as you say, although they have their disadvantages, I think that technology is making its way very quickly and medical personnel will surely receive the adequate training to operate these robotic systems so that they can help them save lives.
Very interesting, thanks!

Wow! Technology is really developing more than we can ever imagine. I never knew we now have robotic surgery in the health sector which helps the doctor to engage in surgical treatments and operation.
I also agree with you on the impact of robotic surgery in education even though it's really gonna be a very huge advantage and opportunity for the medical students.
Thanks for sharing this great post with love from @hardaeborla and I hope you have a great day ahead 💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕

Very interesting article, my compliments, it is full of food for thought. I believe that robotics applied to medicine represents a great milestone because it improves vision, the ability to perform complex movements and it is less invasive than traditional interventions.
I believe this is only the beginning given the potential of robotic technology proven already in 2002 with an experimental case of remote cholecystectomy, patient in Strasbourg and surgeon in new York. Source
I believe that development cannot be stopped but its application must certainly be managed ethically and spread democratically.

Hello thank you for commenting, yes, certainly every day technology advances a lot and as you say is something that should reach everywhere, but not everyone is so lucky!

Truth has been spoken. robots are very important in such field. but it has many disadvantages as well. so they need to see every possible solutions that can be beneficial.

Technology is a very serious thing.
However, I believe that the human factor must always be present.
This technological advance surely diminishes many potential problems that the surgeon faces at the moment of operating, certainly, there is place of the organism in which it is very difficult to have access, not without doing damage, I believe that in this particular it is a great benefit.
Hours of standing are very exhausting and it also brings other problems for the medical staff. Enlargement of images, can facilitate the visualization of some things that has simple sight could not. Very good publication @franyeligonzalez

Well, In my opinion, it would be a great use of Artificial technology to save human life and robots can assist doctors to complete surgery and I am waiting for such technologies to come in my country because the number of doctors as per the population is less.
Thank you and I really appreciate your effort :-)

As harmful as technological improvement may sound sometimes, we also need to appreciate the helpful impact of these inventions in our everyday lives.

Even if these robots are very skilled at operations, it will take a very long time before they are allowed to operate humans because just like you've mentioned they are highly insensitive and could end up with more organ destruction during the operational model.

Right, I don't think it's best to give someone's life to a machine, simple as that. Nothing like human contact.!!

Couldn't agree more, but I believe autonomous surgical procedure can just be like Tesla that can drive by itself. It's all about input, sensors, parameters and level of error tolerance. At this point, I believe only two things:
At any point of time, robotic will be able to relief human. Automation will have a high extend of precision and can replace a lots of thing that human can't do.

Take this as an example, laser assisted cataract surgery. We saw human doctor does the manual surgery, but let's not forget there is a ton of autonomous function behind the simple "cut and paste" of the patient's eye. The scopes that focus at which point. The lighting system that allow the scope to capture image clearly so the surgeon able to perform the surgery successfully. All that has been taken for granted, because of the amount of "parameter" has been previously set upon.
Now, all we need is another robot to sit there, with a bunch of parameter, to justify the human eyes, room temperature, patient's blood pressure, and ofcourse many more surgical knowledge which I have absolutely no idea.
On a very different topic, seemingly unrelated, but the "parameter" I mentioned in my reply, if added a neural network to make the robot to "decide" based on the parameter, it will become an AI. That is when we start to worry if we allow a robot to justify which type of patient needed which type of treatment. I hope my reply didn't bother you. Cheers and have a good day.

Hello @davidke20 no of course not, the idea is to express our thoughts, you can't always agree completely, that's what it's all about. I think your comment is very good, very good point, likewise we all have our opinion and it is good to share it. Thank you for commenting!
