Being Productive as a Remote Worker (What Works for Me)

You can be working from home and not making any progress at all. Your entire model to work from home or do remote businesses can become an entire shabble especially when you get things wrong from organizing yourself to getting your work done. Although, there are no approved models, styles, or rules to follow when working from home but it is certain that when a few circumstances aren't met, then you might be having an unproductive day at work from home.

First, you need to be sure that your environment is suitable for work. if you are living alone, do you have a working area? If you are living with someone, do the house quiet, or do they like people playing music continually? You need to come to a reasonable understanding with your partner or roomie so you do not get disturbed or distracted during the period of work.

Let there be separate rooms or regions for your office. Let it be visible that the office is different from the house. Also, set a separate time for your work and make sure you keep to it. It is very easy to become familiar with a certain type of routine. All that is required is to practice it for 40 days and you will be used to doing it at all times. Make sure you start on time, do not watch daytime TV, and do not sleep late. When you do this, it affects your productivity and this means you are already failing before starting.

Make sure that you do not work from home looking too casual, it makes you feel like you aren't at work, instead, wear more office-related cloth or official outfits that make you feel like you are at work and you need to be working. Work on high-value tasks and be sure to work on them when you are at your peak of productivity. Never allow your phone to beep around you, it distracts you completely. You do not have to work straight for 6 or 8 hours. You can do it at different intervals of 2 hours, 4 hours, and so on.

Be certain to finish your daily actions on a daily basis and do not go to bed until you are done with the task you want to do. When you start to pile up works from previous days, they start to weigh you down and reduce your productivity for subsequent days.

Hello @gbenga, All the tips and suggestions that you leave us are important and I have already put them into practice for a few years now that I am working from home. I believe that it is very important that the rest of the family understand that even from home "we are working" and that interruptions or distractions should not exist.

Thanks for this post.

Yes dear friend it is compulsory that we keep the rest of the family very informed and make them realize how much we need our space.

Thanks for sharing. It can feel really lax working from home until you start to take deliberate steps and action.

Hello @gbenga
