The media at whose service?

Communication today has become so fast that in a matter of seconds we can know what is happening anywhere in the world.

Of course, we could not say with certainty that what comes as information is totally true, since a fact is always subject to multiple interpretations, more so if what comes to us is partial, it could undoubtedly lead us to bad conclusions about what is perceived, or in other words, to conclusions that the media want us to reach.

Nowadays the media are a great power, there is no doubt that they do not always transmit what happens but what they want to highlight, generally there are great interests linked to the media, men and institutions of power that can make something become trend according to their convenience.

This is usually the main reason why most states tend to have -or at least claim to have control over social media on television and radio.

On the other hand, there is a way in which even more information is handled, which is what we know as social networks, it is one of the most used ways nowadays to send information from one side to another, among other things. Nowadays there are a great number of them, the most used are centralized, and they have become not only a space to share images of your life, but for some it has become a job. *They have even led to the emergence of certain professions or careers for some, for example the well-known Influencers.

It is from social networks that more people in the world are currently being reached.

These are more difficult to control by the states, they have become a great tool when it comes to getting information that otherwise would not have been possible. For example, if only radio or newspapers existed, as was the case a few decades ago, censorship would be much easier. As indeed it was.

So, times are changing, there's no doubt about that, and as far as information and technology is concerned, everything seems to be coming much faster...

Do you think the media is used properly in your country? Have you seen any kind of control by the state?
I'd like your opinion on that.

Thank you very much for reading my publication.

See you next time.

In my country Venezuela, censorship in the media is terrible, of course the government always puts everything in their favor, and only highlights the good they do "according to them" also want to attack any media that is against them to show the channel RCTV that closed its doors many years ago because of this reality. It is sad to live in a country where you cannot express yourself, nor can you say what really happens.

I know that reality pretty well, and yeah. They have control of the media, they shut them down, among other things. And they end up having control of the information that flows through them. Fortunately, its evil power does not reach the social networks.

I think in every country, there is a level of security and censorship. Also, in every platform, there is a level of moderation to speech but the truth is, we will either have to live with it or will go for a revolution

Of course, moderating is one thing, but getting to the point of censoring everything is commonplace in some countries, and they even go beyond that when they scare people if they talk, or simply make them disappear, that happens

Those with the power tend to create opinion matrices That will always happen, it is inevitable

Unfortunately, if it is inevitable, there are those who have power, and will do everything necessary to maintain it. History repeats itself over and over again.

In my country, the media is controlled in such a way that you will never notice. The bad thing is that if the goverment have something to hide, they will censor the publication. This is not good at all.

There are many things that are not right, but in general most are so busy trying to survive that they either don't realize it or simply prefer to ignore it.

Unfortunately there is no country where there is free information, it has always been so governments have always used censorship to control the masses. Today, different systems are used to deceive people such as fake news and with the Internet they spread in the blink of an eye and denying them is difficult. For example, in my country during the pandemic on TV the same epidemiologists always spoke and woe to those who tried to contradict them , they ended up exposed to the media pillory. Journalists rather than seeking the truth tend to spectacular the news perhaps to raise their ratings. I don't know how we can defend ourselves from all this.

I finally think it's a power play, no more. And whoever has the most power wins. It's as simple as that.
It's pretty hard to defend ourselves against that...
Thank you for your comment @mikitalia

Almost every country have political powers controlling television and radio stations preventing them from spilling some obvious facts.

Yes, it is a reality, but access to information thanks to social networks has been easier. Thank you for commenting @mojubare
