Project management requires strategy, focus, and well-trained leaders.

And this happens mainly because it is not a completely new approach, but extremely requested and necessary in the
face of the digital transformation of the market.

In a world increasingly driven by artificial intelligence, it is not surprising that organizations invest in project management.

But who are the people responsible for managing the project?

What skills does a project leader need to master to be successful?

Read on ...

What is project management?

Project management is an activity that involves mastering and applying theoretical knowledge, practical techniques, and behavioral skills to ensure the success of a given project. In other words, the main objective of the management strategy is to ensure that the project is completed successfully, according to the goals and deadlines established during your initial planning.

Therefore, it is a management activity that involves technical skills and leadership skills that involve social and emotional intelligence.

What is a project?

A project is a type of working group that encompasses a series of specific activities, carried out in groups and on a temporary basis.

What differentiates a project from other operational activities is that it has a specific destination and its purpose is to create a product, service or achieve a predetermined result.

The project follows a schedule, with a specific operation, structured with the objective of reaching a certain goal in a predetermined period.

What is project management for?

Project management serves to organize the operation.

After all, without leadership capable of guiding everyone and verifying the progress of each stage, there was an imminent risk that the project would not be delivered on time. Or even to be delivered in terrible quality.

A true project leader helps ensure the success of the operation, keeping deadlines in mind and providing solutions to problems that arise along the way.

What are the advantages of project management?

The main practical advantages of project management are related to the organization of the operation.

Among them, meeting deadlines, team motivation, minimizing risks, agility in decisions and, consequently, successful delivery.

But the benefits go beyond that.

After all, what is the ultimate goal of the project? Make the customer happy.

In other words: it avoids those operations that do not fulfill their initial purpose and are still maintained, absorbing resources daily.

Why invest in project management?

By combining soft skills and technical skills, investing in a good project manager enables organizations to achieve faster innovation against fluctuations in an extremely fast, technology-driven market.

Good project management allows the company to stay up-to-date, without compromising the quality of the products and services offered.

Do you know which companies have once again highlighted the project management culture?

If you thought of Silicon Valley companies like Tesla, Google, Facebook and Amazon, you got it right.

In these organizations, efficient project management has been responsible for an exponential improvement in the customer experience and even in the global economy.

Project Life Cycle

The life cycle of the project refers to the phases of execution of the operation, from planning to final delivery. This measure is extremely important. It is the main person responsible for ensuring compliance with the objectives and deadlines.

What are the 5 phases of the project management process?

The life cycle of a well-structured project involves five phases.

1. Initiation
It is the stage that determines the justification of the project, the mapping of an excellent project manager and the verification of costs and feasibility of execution.

2. Planning
It involves structuring a coherent and realistic plan for the execution of the project.
It also includes the definition of stages and skills that will be required in the operation.

3. Execution
Once planning is complete, the next step is to practice.
Execution is about turning the plan into action.

4. Control and follow up.
This step does not occur after the previous one, but simultaneously.
During the execution phase, the project's health monitoring must be carried out daily.

  1. Close
It symbolizes the formal closure phase of the project, whether it has been successful or not.
Its objective is to identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities for improvement.

What are the main performance indicators of the project?

To identify if a project is going in the right direction, it is worth pointing out some indicators

  • Forward Performance Index (IDP): indicator that shows how the project is progressing in relation to the pre-established schedule.

  • Cost Performance Index (IDC): measures the cost of the project in relation to the planned and initially available budget.

  • Tasks performed rate: monitors the volume of tasks already carried out and those that are still planned, to verify the project deadlines and progress.

So we can understand in a brief conclusion that efficient project management results in higher productivity and, consequently, a competitive advantage.

Great and understandable lesson on project management.

thanks for reading me

The concept of projects is easier enough but I find that not everyone can really cope with real projects. By their nature, they involve change rather than business as usual and people feel uncomfortable with the uncertainty that change brings.

Others love working in project environments. I love the change element, it means the job is not repetitive.

To become a project manager requires so much dedication, so much effort, only those with a goof leadership skill can become an effective project manager.

Project management comes with a lot responsibilities and effectiveness, it only takes a strong minded person to do the job and do it well.

The level of control and follow-up is often disregarded and it is one of the most essential step to take.

Hello, thanks for reading and commenting on my content.
You are very right if there is no follow-up, the most likely is that good results will not be obtained.
