Delta variant of new coronavirus shows higher viral replication rate

This entry counts as a new informative report on the ravages that the Covid-19 pandemic continues to reach, this time I will focus on presenting content on some scientific reports that reflect that the delta variant of Covid-19 has a higher rate of viral replication.

It was recently reported that the delta variant of Covid-19 induces a viral load approximately 1,200 times higher than the original strain, hence the reason why this variant is considered to be the most contagious among the variants reported to date.

However, another element to highlight about the delta variant is that the amount of virus that a person has in the nose or throat can remain for a longer period of time, therefore, the scientific community recommends that those infected with the delta variant remain in isolation for longer periods of time.

For the above mentioned, it is necessary to mention which are the symptoms induced by the delta variant, and how dangerous it is that it spreads so easily in people with low immunity, or even in those who to date only have the first dose of the vaccine against the coronavirus.

As is well known, the delta variant of the new coronavirus was first identified in India, and has spread rapidly around the world generating alarming numbers of infections and deaths in extremely short periods of time.

World Health Organization spokespersons have highlighted that this variant is an estimated 60% more transmissible than the alpha variant (variant of the new coronavirus first detected in England), this percentage projects a higher rate of viral replication.

In view of this delicate disease situation, the ideal is to isolate oneself at home and in case of any viral symptomatology go to health centers and undergo detection tests related to the new coronavirus.

In view of this delicate disease situation, the ideal is to isolate oneself at home and in case of any viral symptomatology go to health centers and undergo detection tests related to the new coronavirus.

Better advice than this impossible, when I read this type of information I keep wondering if this virus is not a biological weapon that has gotten out of control.

Now is this the only variant? How many more will exist and we don't even know?

Greetings friend @ lupafilotaxia. There are two elements to consider now, after several months of the Coronavirus discovery:
1.- If there is no awareness in prevention, taking biosecurity measures, the virus can never be stopped, controlled or exterminated.
2.- We are already discovering faster its mutations to control it, but in the same way, we waste time in vaccinating ourselves and every day we believe that the virus is ending, when it is increasing and killing more people.

From what I have seen so far. Some of the places there are a lot of death rates. But some places are adopting to the virus and also with the vaccination increase the amount of people falling dead are reduced too. I think in next year or so things are going to be just fine in context. Vaccination can slow down things I suppose.

En base a lo expuesto, se debe mantener los protocolos de bioseguridad elementales: tapabocas, distanciamiento social, lavar las manos así como la limpieza y sanitización de zonas de permanencia, evitar estar en areas cerradas con aglomeramiento de personas; y en las areas cerradas que por su uso tenga mucho trafico de personas se debe mejorar los sistemas de ventilación para garantizar el flujo adecuado del aire que permita reducir las cargas virales en los ambientes.

At least having two doses of a vaccine does seem to prevent extreme illness, although there are people here in hospital who have had two vaccines and then caught the delta variant. This disease is going to be with us for a long time, even with wide vaccine adoption.

In my country there have also been cases like the one you mention, now, I think a mistake is that people who get vaccinated divorce themselves from biosecurity measures and this ends up being counterproductive.

I agree, I believe we will need to continue taking sensible precautions whilst in public spaces. Here, over 75% of adults have now been double jabbed, but you can still see people wearing masks in big shopping centres and whilst using public transport. It is not universal though, the younger generations are the ones who are most likely to not worry about precautions.
