As we all know, and most have written, this pandemic has caused profound changes in economic, social, educational, and family environments. But what has happened to the environment? While it is true that the shutdown of many industries has wreaked havoc on the economic level, the environment has felt the difference.
I love to share this quote with you:
"No war, no recession, no other pandemic, has had such a dramatic impact on CO2 emissions over the last century as covid-19 has achieved in just a few months," Matt McGrath, BBC environment correspondent, recently wrote.
Carlos Serrano, 2020
It means that, for us, it has been permeated with frustration, the environment has been grateful for it, and that is that containment has regulated the use of transport and gases from industries. If we look at it from this aspect, perhaps the planet needed to put a stop to what gives us comfort, but it is out of control.
However, not everything is perfect, as it is becoming a daily occurrence to observe in any scenario, those items that we are using to protect ourselves. We are no longer astonished to find in the street a mouth-cover or a bottle of antibacterial gel.
It is therefore merited to act responsibly, because our atmosphere may be improving, but our practices are damaging the rest and the story of deterioration never ends. The ideal is to sort waste, for example, the gloves and containers we use for alcohol or gel into the plastic bin, and masks into recyclable materials.
International agencies fear that, after the pandemic, the economic downturn will cause industries to double their working hours, which would counteract what we have already achieved. The truth is that keeping the planet in balance has been more difficult since man appeared on Earth.
I think the biggest problem is giving back the jobs that people lost. And so there is going to be divide between the rich and the poor. And things would be pretty easier for the people to manipulate if they have money. So you can guess the world will go back to where it was barring some established people can lose the track of their investment. So yeah pandemic is kind of mixed on financial front.

hi, @lynnmagullys, Yes! many people think that the pandemic is a response of the planet, to stop the growth of pollution, as a way to defend themselves, of course I do not believe that, I think that hygiene and food safety measures in countries like China and the United States have to change, so that this does not continue to happen.

Indeed, this calls us to raise awareness in the management of environmental resources. If we deteriorate the earth, where are we going to live?

Yes, it is pitiful to see how we do not learn from situations. The earth speaks to us and we must listen to it.

Greetings @lynnmargullys, we have all become engrossed in seeing the downside of the pandemic without taking into account the great rest and respite that our planet has had thanks to the shutdown of vehicles and the closure of many factories. All this was necessary I think that in life and the world everything has a purpose, thanks for sharing your post.

That's right, the decline of human activities has made the planet green in many ways... I hope we can become aware of this... thanks for the comment!
