Greetings, dear readers of this prestigious platform, this publication serves to make known some advantages and disadvantages of self-medication of drugs without a medical prescription, referring to the use of paracetamol as a normal course anti-inflammatory.

In this sense, it is necessary to point out that paracetamol is assumed to be a medicine that is used as an anti-inflammatory to relieve pain and in many cases as antipyretics. Since its discovery, different investigations with the purpose of evaluating the danger and efficiency of the same due to the excessive demand and use that has been given to the drug, which has allowed it to be classified as one of the drugs with the lowest danger.

Based on the above, it seems unnecessary to carry out this conceptual approach since the drug offers us greater benefits rather than harm, however, current studies show that the reality is different and this drug positively affects some areas of our body but increases crucial cardiovascular diseases in it.

In such a way that throughout this article we will focus on the effects of the medication at the cardiovascular level without forgetting the positive effects that it produces at the brain level, promoting memorization and relieving stress.

In relation to the positive effects, we can express that they are well known and that we have mentioned before, so we will only focus on those associated with concentration and memory, where different researchers assume that moderate consumption of the drug modifies certain regions of the brain, reducing neuronal stress and improving people's memorization process

According to the researchers, the active ingredient of the drug produces a release of serotonin in our brain, which is why mental or cerebral stress decreases, generating positive effects associated with greater memorization or retention, Similarly, paracetamol has been shown to activate areas associated with the hippocampus, responsible for learning, problem solving and memory.

On the other hand, everything is not positive with this medicine since different studies argue that it is the cause of cardiovascular problems, and to explain this behavior, we will rely on a new study developed by the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine, which has proven that the consumption Excessive use of the drug increases the risk of suffering a heart attack or cardiovascular accident by 68%, and this percentage increases by an additional 10% when combined with alcohol or processed foods.

The adverse effects, according to the researchers, are associated with increased blood transaminase levels, understood as protein enzymes that are distributed in the liver and heart, so that Excessive consumption of the drug increases the levels of the enzyme, which produces inflammation in the areas associated with these, thus generating an increase in cardiovascular accidents.

In general terms, the call is aimed at not self-medication, since the consumption of medication without a prescription threatens the well-being of our health and our body.

It is weird that quite a lot of people abuse paracetamol without knowing that there are adverse negative consequences of it. I guess this is one of the reasons why self-medication is strongly discouraged.

Excellent read buddy

There are many people who self-medicate and the seriousness of the matter is that they are not aware of the damage they cause to their body.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your contribution. Greetings

Hello @madridbg
I had never read about the positive effect on memory,.I will look for more information, I found this interesting.
Paracetamol has a terrible effect on the liver if the intake is excessive. Especially if it goes above 4000mg a day, already there it is toxic dose, for example. It damages the liver and transaminases are released, which end up affecting the kidneys, but I had not seen anything about cardiovascular involvement. So there are a few things to study. Thank you.

Greetings dear @josevas217, no doubt that was one of the causes that prompted me to write about it, because you as a doctor know what are the problems of excessive consumption of such drugs and cardiovascular effects set off alarms so that should be evaluated in depth the real damage caused by the drug.

Hi @madridbg the overuse of all drugs brings negative consequences, traditionally, doctors have considered paracetamol a safer analgesic than aspirin, which can cause bleeding in the stomach, and ibuprofen, which besides causing gastrointestinal problems triples the risk of heart problems if consumed in excess, thank you for such a good publication, so instructive, success.

Greetings @aplausos on the contrary I am the grateful one for your time in passing and making the reading of my publication since we must be informed and alphabetizing together. Greetings
