Geologists have always been searching for the source of so much water in the oceans. The answer has only recently been discovered that a huge body of water has been discovered in the depths of the earth in which the amount of water is three times more than the water of all the oceans on the planet. This water is present inside the blue rocks at a depth of 700 km after several layers of underground rocks. This inner part of the earth is called mantle. This groundwater is in a fourth form instead of liquid, ice or vapor which we are not familiar with. There is a huge amount of water in our earth. Scientists are trying to find out how far this water has spread underground.
Every year on June 8, World Oceans Day is celebrated in countries around the world. The purpose of celebrating this day is to express the importance of oceans for its water, aquatic animals and the environment connected with the sea. Raising public awareness that marine pollution poses a threat to humanity. On this day seminars, events, conferences, TV programs, newspaper columns and articles are written all over the world for the purpose of campaigning for the reduction of marine pollution which should be called water pollution.
Humans get 40% fresh water and more than 50% oxygen from the oceans. The life of all living beings depends on water and oxygen. Oceanographers also consider the vast oceans to be a priceless treasure of minerals. In addition, 40% of the world's population lives on beaches near the oceans. These beaches are a source of food for these people. The oceans provide employment for a large portion of the human population. The daily needs of millions of human beings depend on marine life and related businesses, so the ocean environment is crucial for human beings and their survival.
The oceans also affect the environment in such a way that the weather system changes from the oceans, the rains come due to the oceans. Therefore, it is everyone's national responsibility to protect the oceans and keep them free from pollution because the pollution that reaches the rivers through sewage water becomes part of the sea from the rivers. Contaminated oceans destabilize the planet's ecological balance, which has a direct negative impact on human life.
According to the United Nations Environment Program, 80% of marine pollution is caused by land resources, such as river pollution, polluted water from cities and industries, and so on. An ocean is a large body of salt water.
The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean in the world. The name was given to it by the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, meaning "calm sea". The Pacific Ocean covers one-third of the Earth's total area, with a total area of 179.7 million square kilometers (69.4 million square miles).
What is the significance of the oceans for the human race? It provides clean water, oxygen, food, employment and mineral resources. The seas change the weather. Marine pollution is harming human beings, marine pollution is spreading due to human beings and human beings have to make efforts to reduce it.
