Cosmos SDK is an open-source blockchain project that developers can use to develop custom blockchain projects. Cosmos is a widely used and growing blockchain project, and can also be purchased and staked for rewards on Cosmostation and Coinbase.
Cosmos SDK's Strengths
The strengths of Cosmos' blockchain comes from its modular design, customization and ability to interact with other blockchain projects. Cosmos SDK has application-specific blockchains that unlike smart-contract that sit on blockchains like Ethereum, are designed for one purpose. In essence, you can build a new project on your own blockchain using an easier to navigate process of modular functionality. What a deal for a new project.
Cosmos is written off of the Tendermint Core, a widely used POS protocol that powers a wide variety of blockchains. It is a BFT technology that makes Cosmos and it's related projects well-regarded.
Cosmos SDK is a decentralized POS platform that allows for scalability, and is a more direct way to create a specific application. Smart contracts may be more unwieldy than what is required, and a whole new blockchain can be created for your project. Given the high gas fees on Ethereum, a Cosmos application-specific blockchain on Cosmos SDK may make a whole lot more sense, and may attract many more users.
Ethereum smart-contracts suffer from scalability issues. When a smart-contract is used off of the "Ethereum Virtual Machine", it will required more resources to run, and burden the system. We have seen gas fees increase in 2020, and this really puts a damper on growth. If you want to make a new blockchain project and market it to new users, they may be resistant due to the resources it will ask of them. Why not use Cosmos SDK to make your own chain and watch your userbase grow? Read more here:

Cosmos as an investment
Cosmos (ATOM) is the 20th largest cryptocurrency by marketcap. It is well-regarded for its substantial POS rewards, including a recently implemented 5% APR return on Coinbase and up to 11% APR on Cosmostation. As an investment, the value proposition of Cosmos is its scalability potential and growth of its userbase.
