30-DAYS-WORK-LESS HOURS…

source:

Earlier this week I wrote a post on mental health for my firm which led me into doing some research on the topic and I stumbled upon this video on youtube. It talked about the hectic lifestyle of an entrepreneur and I found it interesting.

So for the past 2-3 months, I have been immersed in my work and working hard to achieve everything I wanted--which I have achieved. This has led me into taking on more tasks.

Unfortunately, increasing my workload has led to more stress. It is becoming draining because I have to juggle so many things at the same time, having little or no time to rest. Now I have added a part-time job to the mix.

I have been working really hard but at this point, it has paid off in some ways. However, I don't think they correlate anymore. Plus, I am not working at an optimal level and that is something I have to change.

Another issue I have discovered is that I am taking in more than I should and spreading myself thin. I have failed to recognize my limitation and it is draining the joy I derive from doing the things I care about.

For the next 30 days, I want to apply my mind and effort differently. I want to work less, spend more relaxing to get back to my flow-state. I hope to achieve this by narrowing my activities and focusing on the top three things on my list.

For my important tasks which involves writing for myself or my company, I will endeavour to complete them in the morning so I have ample time during the day to read and come up with more creative ideas.

Another thing I hope to achieve this coming week is to rediscover old habits--things I used to do for fun. I do not know how to enjoy myself anymore. Everything has become a competition or challenge. I need to tweak this approach to life and find some balance.

The goal is to remove as many stressors as possible and live optimally. To achieve this I plan to take stock of my activities both mental and physical and eliminate anything unnecessary--if possible.

I have also noticed that I set unrealistic time frames for my long-term goals. So one of the things I plan to do today is redesigning some of my tasks, breaking them down into actionable sets I can take every day for the next six months.

I hope by sharing my thought process helps someone find a way around their challenges and cultivate a healthy life balance. Cheers.
