Pride they say leads to the fall of even great men. I have read stories of how great men were brought low to the position of being nobody and from their high horses, they became very calm and cool.
For some people, pride is a habit that they have in them from childhood and for others it was a bad habit cultivated along the way during the stage of maturity. Whichever way pride was brought into the picture, it is one habit that everyone should avoid and discard.
It is true that terrible things happens to even good people and we do not have to be proud in order to experience life having its toil on us. However, it is easy and more convenient for someone who is not proud to overcome life challenges than a person who is proud. I once heard a story of a wealthy man who appeared to have everything he needs in life, he seemed unbothered about what any other person had to say about him and the manner he lived his life. His wealth grew, so also did his non-challant attitude about life and the need for others also grow, it was convenient for him to speak to people the way he seemed fit and treat his workers as though they were not humans, according to him as long as he was able to pay them for their services then he owed no one anything.

He seemed to be living a pretty good life, buying the things he needed in life with the money he had at hand and trampling on the rights of others, with the mind-set that his money will always win grounds for him. He however discovered how wrong he was soon enough when sickness knocked him down and at that point, everyone taking care of him took advantage of his situation to steal from him. He had no loyal help or servant, it was at this point that he was left with no other option to become nice and treat other people with the respect that they deserve.
He came to the realization of the fact that his money as well as his pride will could not get him everything that he wants from life. Certainly, pride destroys things and reduces even a man of high standard to nothing.

In this case that you raise is closely related to pride with arrogance, that nothing good bring to the person.
Humility opens more doors than anything else, always treat people as humans that we are is logical, but there are those who lose sight of that, and there if that is very bad for them. because finally they lose much more than the possibility of being seen as human when they end up needing others.
