One of the ways to achieve luxury brand status is to make people feel like they can never have enough. As long as people's bank accounts are full of money, there will never be a shortage of a luxury product to try to fill a need created from people's insecurity. The fact that this strategy not only seems to continue to be successful, but is becoming more and more accentuated as the world gets richer and richer, is no coincidence.
Why are we in such a state?
This is a question that can be asked since the first man had his own business. Today, in the era of capitalism, there’s almost no situation in which there’s no profit to be made. Everyone is busy trying to improve and increase profits for themselves, while they’re trying to find a way to get a piece of the pie that others are trying to slice. And why aren’t people happy and successful? In an effort to compete, we’ve created institutions that are so sophisticated and intricate that they’re just about impossible to navigate.
And if you do get into one of these systems, you’ll almost certainly lose all the money you’d made in life so far. Luxury brands are in an absolute golden era, as they’ve managed to take control of a large portion of the society and convince people they will never have enough. All this is a matter of fact, as people have managed to create a system that is so intricate and sophisticated, that most people simply don’t have a chance to compete in the first place .
The status of luxury brands and people.
Luxury brands have been around a long time. Even before the invention of money. The fact that people have always coveted the possessions of others is a fact of life. Wealth and Status have always been associated with what other people possess and have. In the past, people used to have to be rich to be important. They were important because they could offer their neighbors and guests access to something that they themselves could not.
However, it wasn’t until quite a bit later that we started to use the word “luxury” to describe this type of behavior. In the 14th century the idea of luxury started to take shape, with the idea of the wealthy owning everything. When you are wealthy, you own many things at once. And when you have enough, you can choose to not buy anything new for a while.
Over time, luxury has developed into a category of its own, separate from the categories of necessity. Today, luxury brands have made an art form out of showing off the value they give to customers, even though these brands still exist within the necessity category. The reason for this is that they’re creating value that is not only important to their customers, but even to society in general. They are able to create something that everyone can agree is “luxurious”. “Luxury” is not, by the way, a term that’s only associated with high-end brands. At the end of this article, I’ll explain why you can consider yourself as a luxury brand, too.
The problem with “luxury”.
Let’s start by asking ourselves what the word “luxury” comes from. It is from the Latin luxuria, meaning “delight in sensual pleasures”. This means that “luxury” is not something that’s just about the products that these brands sell. Luxury is an entire lifestyle. In essence, “luxury” is about being spoiled and having no reason to complain. Luxury is about the power you have over your life and the opportunities you are giving yourself.
How, then, did we go from a situation where being rich was a sign of how important people were, to a situation where it’s now accepted that being rich doesn’t mean anything in the first place? If you look at most luxury brands, they’ll tell you a story about how they decided to create this lifestyle and make their customers feel that they’re having a good time
The way they do it is by making people believe that a lot of people and all the resources that go into the creation of their products are going to be completely invested. At the same time, the fact that this product is not making a huge profit is also being ignored. As you may be able to notice, most luxury brands try to make people believe that their products are created by human hands. They spend money on advertising and PR, without any reference to the fact that most of thei products are mass-produced.
The reason for this is simple. It’s because mass-produced products don’t cost the brands the money they need to produce the products. People can’t feel that they’re getting something of tangible value for the money they pay for their products. This creates a huge problem, as brands don't invest the money their products are worth they can burn the products they couldn't sell. This is to create demand for their products, because if they gave away or gave rebates people would not pay the thousands of dollars that the products are usually worth when they come out and would wait until the season is over to have a big discount. all this brings huge problems for the environment as the fashion industry and luxury brands are the ones that pollute the planet the most.
It is undeniable that a paradigm shift is urgently needed if we want to stay alive as a human species. It is not really worth destroying the only home where we live in exchange for pleasing people who do not care about us or in exchange for a few simple likes on social networks.
Luxury brands are getting more attention these days because people are now going more into high value brands but did not know the aspect that you shared in the post which is quite informative for me.
