Perhaps we all know that the whales on Hive platform have been known to like to downvote their own platform users. There have been many instances of downvotes that have caused complaints, frustration, and even anger on the part of users.

For example, below are some of them.

Why is this happening? In particular, it begs the question, why do whales downvote so much against the users of their own platform? Don't they need a large number of users to attract investors? If they downvote their users that way, won't they go away?

One of the reasons they count valid for a downvote is "too much reward.", also known as reward disagreement. So, if one day our post there gets big enough rewards, be prepared to get downvoted, because it may be considered too big a reward.

First, I agree that we should downvote spam posts, that the same content is posted over and over again automatically. Similarly, for content that is misleading (scam) or steals someone else's articles (plagiarism), these should be downvoted.

But what about reward disagreement reason? Currently, there are many whales over there who downvoted for this reason. Of course, this causes frustration and even anger among victimized users. What's wrong with posts having large rewards? After all, there are no rules limiting the size of the reward.

If the reason of "too much reward" is considered valid, how is it different from the reasons of envy and jealousy? Something like, "You're just a small minnow, why should your posts get big rewards? If it's me, the big rewards are fine because I'm a whale."

So, I don't think that "too much reward" is a valid reason to downvote. And we should not downvote based on this reason, especially when we are whales with great power. Because with great power comes great responsibility.

Why is the rating so low on this? I don't get why it's muted.

This is very good.

@puncakbukit Yes this is right we should not give downvote due to their rewards, they get their rewards for their hard working on making their post so we have to appreciate them instead of discouraging them

Hive is becoming quite unhealthy. Downvotes for plagiarized articles and scam articles should be allowed but not because of good payout, that's totally wrong on a different level.

Yes we should not give downvote
