Background

Event/Contests Organizers and/or Bounty Managers require to send/distribute the tokens at the end of the events/contests to a number of participants/winners. Sending tokens to each of the addresses to the winners/participants is not practically feasible and there could be mistakes in distribution too. Hence sending multiple transactions at one click is the ideal solution. This is a very genuine use-case for Bounty Managers and/or Event/Contest Organizers.

In the Etherium family, we have dapp like Multisend to cater to this use-case of sending multiple transactions at one go whereas in the Steem family we have Stemyy to cater to this use-case.

How does it work?

I am not going into the details of "How to" in this post. I have already published an article including various types of use-cases of multiple transactions in one click using Steemyy. You can refer to this post.

Similarly, in the case of Multisend, there is a very short video of 1 min 43 secs as well as infographics on the How it works page of Multisend. You can refer to that.

Both are quite simple in their own way.

Different types of use-case

Multisend
  • Transfer ETH/ERC20 to multiple addresses(with same(fixed) amount)
  • Transfer ETH/ERC20 tokens to multiple addresses(with different amounts)
Steemyy
  • Transfer same(fixed) amount(STEEM) to multiple addresses
  • Transfer different amounts (STEEM) to different addresses
  • Transfer recurring/repetitive amounts (STEEM) to a single address(or multiple addresses) at a pre-defined interval.

Comparison between Multisend & Steemyy

Before going into the comparison, I would like to clarify that I am not going to discuss how good the user interface or whether open-source or not, etc. I am comparing purely on the basis of the use-case it serves.

Upload CSV Data sheet

In Mutlisend, the best part is that you can directly upload CSV data. I think that is the easiest method for the event organizers. Most of the organizers handle such events and handle the large set of data with the help of an excel sheet. So allowing the CSV data(specified format) to upload directly, will certainly help the organizer to distribute. As they don't need to put(copy/paste) the same in the designated box.

Those who don't want to go with uploading CSV data are free to type the addresses and amount in the designated box.

In Steemyy, this feature is missing. The only way to send is to enter the addresses(Usernames) in the designated box to be able to send to multiple addresses.

This is where Multi sends scores the most.

Variety of use-cases under "Multiple transfers in one-click"

In both Multisend & Steemyy the common use-cases are--

  • Transfer same(fixed) amount to multiple addresses
  • Transfer different amounts to different addresses

In fact, Multisend is limited to serve the only two use-cases as mentioned.

Steemyy is a little versatile in this context. It also serves the use-case of transferring repetitive/recurring amounts to single/multiple addresses at a pre-defined interval. So this can also serve the use-case of repayment in EMI. As it has options like "Send X times" and "Interval", the sender can customize it according to his requirement.

This is where Steemyy scores the most.

Push/Pull Options

This option is exclusively for Multisend and it is not applicable to Steemyy.

If you chose the "Push" button before sending, then it will send the tokens to the addresses that you have entered.

If you chose the "Pull" button before sending, then the tokens will remain in the Sender's ETH wallet until the receiver claims it and pay the required fees to execute the transaction.

This "Pull/Push" option is really wonderful and I think that will make the distribution more authentic in terms of resource utilization. What I mean to say is that, using "Pull" button, the most active participants will be benefitted, who have a sense of belongingness to the program/project. The bounty managers will also make the effective utilization of resources as the unclaimed tokens will still remain in their wallets.

Note- This "Pull" option is not available yet in Multisend and will be implemented soon.

Conclusion

Both Etherum and Steem are different Blockchains for different purposes. But the use-cases like Multiple Transfer at one-click and DeFi are very generic to many heterogeneous blockchains. So it is always prudent to look for the best viable options and/or solution in the dynamics of the crypto ecosystem. And hence this comparison between Multisend and Steemyy. Maybe with such a comparison we can implement the advantageous aspect of one dapp in the other.

Learning and ideas never cease with such comparisons.....

Thank you.
